Finebaum putting out Oklahoma coming after Heupel

Kind of off topic but with Oklahoma's recent collapse this year, there has to be major concerns with them moving forward. Nebraska has really struggled in the B1G and they are not a marketable location to get recruits. I would not think about this a year ago but could Oklahoma fall into a Nebraska trap with their SEC move?
I can understand miami having a draw on recruits , but Norman ok? Or Auburn

I was initially a little nervous. But honestly, Tennessee isnā€™t a stepping stone school. We have one of the largest stadiums, most passionate fan bases and everything else to win multiple national championships. I donā€™t see Heupel leaving us for anything other than possibly a NFL job in the distant future. Several Sooner fans I know said that they burned their bridge with Josh.

I donā€™t even think we have to worry about that and for a few reasons. Itā€™s not like it used to be, a big college school can pay as much if not more than an NFL team for their HC. Look at all the college coaches that failed in the NFL, especially Chip Kelly who also had a fast, up tempo offense

I would be more worried about OK if CJH was from there. Heā€™s not. He only went to school and coached there. There isnā€™t much of a tug on the heart strings to go home when it isnā€™t really home.

Fine-bum was especially mean to the Vols back during the coaching searches before Pruitt was hired. Knowing he's an alum makes you wonder what got under his skin to bash us like he does. I never paid much attention to him but remember he was always making predictions that never panned out. He's an expert at getting it wrong.

I give the man credit for staying on the air with that face. You would think he would dress the part but no, 60's style attire. He family must own part of the station or something??
I've heard Finebaums ears are so big they interfere with NASA's satellites communicating. When he turns his head a certain direction, you get Green Acres re-runs on the TV

Finebaum is again playing to his audience. It makes sense to for his part. As far as Heupel, absolutely OU probably makes a call to his agent. That said I doubt it matters. He has a very good relationship with the AD at Tennessee. I just donā€™t see it happening.

Oklahoma isnā€™t firing Venables. They arenā€™t going to fire him before he gets a full class of his guys in there. Riley left the defensive cupboard bare.

Personally, I don't think CJH's offense would translate to the NFL very well. And, you are correct about the money. The way this thing is going right now, Danny White could muster up enough booster money to match any offer in about five minutes.

I couldn't imagine building a place from ground up just to leave it. Then possibly having to play against it when Oklahoma joins the sec. But it stirs people up and I'm sure other fan bases are getting a kick out of it. If asked today CJH would laugh it off like you can't be serious.

Every school in America that has an opening will try to steal him. He took a TN program that was damn near dead and has completely turned us around in less than two years. We beat bama and this is Saban level greatness in year two. I donā€™t see him ever leaving though and he and White are going to build a dynasty here.

F-baum going to be F-baum...

Heupel said in the post-game LSU that he "loves (appreciates) this fan base" at least 8 or 10 times.
Said directly that the fans turned the "most threatening place to play in the SEC" into a home game for us and NO WHERE has a fan base like this.

I get it at the end of the day it's about the Benjamin's, but when you meet leaders like Heupel you realize that there is a LOT more that goes into it than just money...he's found that here in Knoxville and I firmly believe until he makes all his goals here, he's staying.

Why should he accept less than market value because he ā€œlovesā€ the fan base? Why canā€™t he love the fan base AND get paid a competitive, Top 10 salary? All at the same time.

Letā€™s stop making excuses for our administrationā€™s perpetual failure to operate the football program like weā€™ve moved into the 2000s. They are still stuck back in the 1900s.

Newsflashā€¦salaries have increasedā€¦A LOT! And there is no reason for UT not to compensate its coaches like a Top 10 program. Goodness knows the program generates the revenue.

If he did, Noone would watch.
Eveey joke about him has already been made

So now he throws out dumb$h!t statements and everyone flows to his shows

Yes, itā€™s a low IQ 3rd grading humor show that got its beginnings as Bama Radio. Heā€™s used the same stereotype redneck beer drinking fanatics he had in Alabama and brought it to ESPN and has became a millionaire. I think heā€™s surprised that thereā€™s that many Bubbas in the Southeast. I do think he still has a fondness for his Alma Mater but he owes his hitting sportscaster lottery to the Gumps.
