Fire Mike Hamilton (merged)

Blaming Hamilton for Kiffin is like blaming Hoover for the Great Depression.

Hamilton has done a superb job as the AD. Those who think otherwise need to revisit the decisions made by previous ADs, Woodruff and Dickey. It wouldn't be in our best interest to to take the words of Forde and Mandel to heart. Odds are they knew nothing of MH or our situation with the 'AA until 36hrs before their deadline.

I think Hamilton is taking too much blame to but really? He hired kiffin and staff with knowledge of their past. It was a bad hire but he at least should have canned them as soon as all those minor violations started rolling in.

I am a big supporter of Hamilton moving on. he has done alot of good for the university though..revived BB, great fundraiser etc etc. I think his bad is outweighing the good at this point though.

hamilton's camp is probably waiting for the right buyout offer---it will take some nice cash to get him to leave.

Hamilton...superb job...yes.

For example, he presided over UT Athletics while Phil Fulmer was driving the program into the ground. Gave him a raise and a contract extension...and then...go figure...fired him...staring at a 6 million buyout.

Superb job, Mike.

Bruce Pearl. First, Bruce's personal life came unglued, and then...when the news came out about Bruce's recruiting practices (surprise!...he cheats on his wife AND his employer)...Mike waffles to the point where the SEC finally steps in and hands down a suspension...hopefully forestalling a serious hit from the NCAA.

Superb job, Mike.

Lane Kiffin. Enough said.

Superb job, Mike.

Fact is...blaming anyone other than Hamilton for Kiffin...Pearl...and making Fulmer the modern version of Lee Majors, is much like blaming the Tender Boiler for the Titanic.

His ship. His watch. His iceberg. He needs to go down, hopefully, not riding his ship.

Go Vols.

Dooley wins the SEC in 2011 all is forgiven.

Look at Mal Moore at Bama.

(Only kind of sarcastic)

Another commentator pointing out the obvious.

College Sports Matchups - Scrimmage Lines

"Tennessee—Oklahoma State wide receiver Dez Bryant was suspended for the balance of a season when it was determined he lied to NCAA investigators. Why was Pearl not suspended for the season, and how did Pearl manage to not be fired by Tennessee’s leadership?

Answer: If Pearl is still the coach at Tennessee next year then someone needs to fire Tennessee AD Mike Hamilton."

Yup. People at Bama seem to love him because Saban and Grant are there. They seem to forget he botched three hires and struck out with Rich Rod and some other guys. He's lucky the boosters got tired of his idiocy around the same time Saban was looking to bail on the NFL.

But hey mike is a good fundraiser :eek:hmy:

I understand he is the fall guy when the two major programs get probed by the ncaa; however, I am most disgusted at his money first approach to college athletics. The raising of ticket prices, the charging UT students for tickets, 8 dollar smokey dogs, all seem a little much to me. I know he gutted the stadium and made it purdy, but I want some sort of assurance that once it is paid off the prices will drop off. UT football is a center piece to the city. It unites the different communities in the Knox county and surrounding areas. When it gets to expensive for the average family to go to games, it becomes a disturbance to our area. Not to mention, when UT football isn't doing so well people aren't happy and then they don't spend as much. When people don't spend as much the economy and job market drops off. Then it makes buying tickets even more difficult to purchase. Endless cycle with the money aspect.

He's always been transparent with the money thing. When people made a case for getting rid of Fulmer the first words out of his mouth were "How many of those people were season ticket holders?". Then he downplayed the Tennessee job like it was second rate.

Really though the people in charge are apparently all about the money too, because they continue to hang on to this guy because he helps them stay out of the red. Like that would be a likely situation at Tennessee anyway.

If he's still around after they cann Pearl then i don't know if i'll ever give them another dime of my money. They traded success for money, butts in seats means whoever is in charge up there is happy, no matter if the teams are all mediocre. They look like sellouts right now in the worst way. They should all be fired.
