Fire Mike Hamilton (merged)

Even still-how exactly is Haden going to look if he keeps Kiffin around with sanctions about to follow him to USC on top of the sanctions already imposed? I hope this does not get lost in this mess-Haden came to USC in almost fire and brimestone fashion in an effort to clean up their Athletics Department. It would be a hard sell on that platform to keep Kiffin around after what was detailed in the LOA. We are about to find out how big of a hypocrite Hayden is.

I find this interesting as well. The magnititude of the penalties imposed on Kiffy will be the deciding factor I think. Of course, I am pulling for the Wrath of God to come down on Kiffy.

Did anyone mention that Forde is kind of an ass? Bashing Dooley with 11-men-on-the-field jokes is going pretty far afield from Hamilton's lack of oversight of the men's athletic programs.

I usually read Farde's stuff because he is knowledgable and pretty much on the money...but if he's going to make jokes, at least get it right...13 is not 11 !!!

Pat Forde's a UK Homer.
I believe Forde cut his journalistic teeth at Louisville and still holds them very dear to his heart.

Yeah, out of the goodness of his heart. It couldn't be a paycheck could it...

Not when I saw him speak.

Gene Wojciechowski stopped by as a favor and Forde was with him when ESPN was up here for a game.

Also got a chance to meet Ivan Maisel when he stopped in with Wojciechowski.

Yeah I like Wojo and Ivan, Forde can sit on one though.

I think he was trying to say Dooley is far from proven to be a good hire (which was true), but said it a little ass-ish (I know that's not a word).

That's what I thought too.

It's like he got an insatiable rage boner for UT, which is, admittedly, like an orgy of loathsome characters at the moment. In all the confusion, Forde just stuck it to the wrong guy there for a minute.

I don't really care either way, but you have a point about Hammy. UT spent major bucks on a search committee, ignored the recommendations, and ultimately hired Hammy. Fair or not, he's catching enough bad pub that he may lose his job. We have several viable candidates for his replacement on campus. Holloway, Blackburn, and Pat Summitt.

Holloway and Summitt ahave been my exact thoughts for months now, I'm glad to see someone else say the same thing. But my only question is, would making Summitt the AD mean combining the men's and women's AD's and if so, what effects would that have? My guess is its about damn time anyway, I just don't know the ins and outs of it all. i.e. Does Pat even know the Men's system here? How different are they?

I honestly think the only fear some have in Hamilton getting fired is what a new AD would do with Dooley. It's not like a new AD would be walking into a program with a coach with a track record-even Dooley's staunchest defenders/supporters (you can put me at the top) admit this. He has been a stablizing force, recruited well, but he has a losing record at UT at the moment. Would a new AD come in-give him a year, and then decide to bring in "their own guy?"

The damage that would cause could be devestating. This program can not sustain another coaching change within the next 2 years-and a new AD brings that possibility.

Your entire athletic program is a trash heap right now and you are worried about devastating it? It is time to clean house and make changes. All of this is due to one man's incompetency. It is not going to get better until you bring someone in that knows what they are doing and that is not Phil Fulmer.

First off, I was playing devils advocate in reasoning why some may want to keep Hamilton-to at least see if he can get through this. And second, yes, the athletics program is in the trash heap-right now, on February 23. However, it might not stay there for long-that will happen with basketball, but my point was it does not have to happen for football (as down as it is now it would be even worse with another coaching change)....unless an new AD comes in and wants to replace Dooley/does not give him the time needed to rebuild the program (which he is in the beginning stages of doing).

Everyone is so literal on this board. Sheesh.

Good point Kuhlrum. I just think the common denominator across the board is poor decision making by the AD. Dooley does deserve a chance to build his own program and the new AD needs to buy into that.

Especially now understanding that it was likely that Chuck Smith was largely responsible and that was addressed.

That's about the best summary of Forde I've seen.

I remember taking shots directly at the basketball players last year on Twitter...within 10 minutes of the bracket coming out. It was rather odd to see him tweeting Hopson like he was.

I don't think he hates UT, but I get the impression that Pearl and Hamilton might have rubbed him wrong at some point (skipped an interview or something, I don't know). For whatever reason, he keeps that knife sharp and throws it any chance he gets.

(And I found that article HILARIOUS after he wrote about what a harsh penalty UConn got...simply because it embarrassed Calhoun. BARF.)
