We have been hot garage for years and are attempting to recruit impressionable teens that have grown up with a negative perception of the program. Yeah, we had a great year, an awesome culture, staff, etc. But undoing the damage to the Vol brand is going to take some time.

Heupel is a nice guy, and we all know what the saying is about where nice guys finish. This staff is too soft when it comes to pushing for commitments. You need big uglies to win in the SEC. Maybe Heupel likes flashy offense too much to understand that. If things don’t change, we’ll be chasing the mighty Dawgs until the end of days. Even Beamer is crootin better than us.

Its more about gaining momentum. Two strong seasons won't suddenly cause 5 stars to pour in. Not for a program down for 20 years. Georgia Alabama, and Ohio State have been largely consistent and that's paying dividends.

Also, you have to be smart. Texas a&m paid to bring in a bunch of top notch guys and then? Many hit the road after one year.

No, that wasn’t your point. You just wanted to cry about us not signing as many 5 stars as bama and UGA. When in reality since Heupel has been here he’s signed 3 5 stars in 2 years, as much as OSU, Oklahoma, Oregon etc, and more than Notre Dame and Michigan.

The miracle he’s referring to is pretty clear, because he says it lol what in the hell is going on. When did he ever say we were as consistent as UGA and Bama??

Couldn't have said it better myself. We miss on a few recruits in JULY and people lose their minds.

we will never sign the 5 *'s until we get better recruiters. How long is our retort gonna be "We got the best player in the country last yr."

Again I’ve posted this in a few threads. We’ve made some progress. I know that’s not what people want to hear. Tennessee is the OV almost every kid wants to take now days. We’re in the top group for most elite recruits in our region. Some kids we are finishing second for. Some we are winning. Getting to this point is a step. Clemson had a similar path to success. Dabo didn’t win every battle early on; they were the bridesmaid in several early recruitments.

This will pay off in the years to come in recruiting and in the portal.

Yep.

Idk if anyone actually believes we led for Rushing but that was one we weren’t even in. I think Tennessee probably presented a very compelling case there but it’s hard to land someone who wants to stay close to home. Unless you’re family you can’t force a kid to make a decision that flys in the face of every other metric. Kudos to Arizona for making it appear close enough.

I agree. I don’t think we ever had Rushing, but with the success we’ve had on the field and all of the high profile official visits we’ve had, it’s concerning. Some of the most effective recruiting comes from peer recruiting and momentum. We’ve lost the momentum. I just hope there are several silent commits ready to announce soon.

Coming in second with all of these high profile recruits is kind of like loosing to Georgia by one point.

You serious? Were you disappointed in a top ten class last year coming off a 7-6 record with a 1st year head coach? It’s not that any of us don’t want more, clearly we do. But you’re extremely out of touch with reality if you think that we’re going to get 5-7 five stars like UGA and Bama at this point. If we had multiple nattys in the last several years that’s a different story.
Based on your screen name, you think we’re still the dominating power in the last decade

The FACT is that this staff must close strong on some DL and OL or... 2025 is going to look rough. 2025 was when the vast majority of Vols fans thought they'd be contending for a SEC championship. Cant win this league without elite line play. Plain and simple. Winning a SECC hasn't been done without it that I can remember.
