I like coach [Kevin] Keatts, Simons said. Hes a good guy. He told me I would come in and just run the show.
To go with interest from Tennessee and NC State, Simons said South Carolina, SMU, Florida and Minnesota were also actively recruiting him. Assistant from South Carolina, SMU and Minnesota were at his game on Sunday.
Unless his family just needs the monwy desperately, I really feel like he goes to school for a year, especially if you read that article and take notice of his weaknesses; strength and defense. Both things are issues he can work on and improve with a year of college strength and conditioning and Barnes tutelage. He would be joining an experienced, veteran, win-now team, and could have a Trae Young type impact on it. I think that is the selling point by our staff. The "missing link" pitch between good and great.
The problem with going the college route is that there's a 20 hour rule. But maybe that's just 20 hours of practice directly under the coaching staff. Working out with teammates and in the weight room and the film room are probably excluded, so there's likely far more than 20 hours per week spent learning and preparing to play basketball.
I tend to agree, and think a legit 610+ big man could be a potentially better addition to next years roster.
Who cares what * the players have, Barnes doesn't want 1 and done freshman. I understand the need to recruit at a high level, but I know that the team we have this year is really good and I don't know a 5* among them. Slow your roll, Barnes is doing a great job for this university.
