I can see both sides of the argument. We've had great success at some positions, and not as much success at others. It's not delusional to say we've missed on a lot of our top choices. That's true. It doesn't mean we've settled for bad players. Missing on Cai Bates (assuming nothing changes, and we do) sucks because it's to a fake HC and a program we embarrassed last season. You would think we'd have an edge over LSU. Sure, you can point to their success with Burrow, but after that, the program dropped like a rock. Anyway, point is it sucks to lose to LSU given we currently have the brighter trajectory.
More targets will emerge as players begin to play their senior seasons. Coaches may find another DB they like, or they might be happy with who we have. We have 4 guys committed for the secondary. But if they see someone they like, they'll pursue.
Before all is said and done, we'll miss on more guys. And it's okay to be disappointed when we miss on guys. But it doesn't mean our coaches suck. As we continue to have success, recruiting will improve, class to class. Hopefully we eventually get to the point where we can build classes like UGA and Bama. We just have to keep winning. And this staff has shown they can win with less.
