'24 FL CB Cai Bates (FSU Commit)

What do you mean? After one good season in 20 years we should be recruiting as good as the defending two time national champions, and the school that is know as a nfl factory for defensive talent. After one good year. Guys delusional.
Kirby got Georgia to where they are now by stacking classes and having consistency on the field. Those are two things we haven’t done enough of in a long time.

It’s gonna sound like an excuse but Georgia was left with a hell of a lot more talent after firing richt, then Heupel was given after Pruitt. It takes time, it’s to early to be complaining about not recruiting at the highest elite level.

Agree 100%. Kirby took over a Georgia program that was already having 10 win seasons. He was hired to get them over the hump, which he has done, but no one should act like Heupel came into remotely similar circumstances. Going from SEC laughing stock to 11-2 in two seasons, particularly under NCAA investigation and a reduced roster, is nothing short of remarkable. That doesn't mean we should instantly be recruiting at the same level as Bama and Georgia. No one else is consistently recruiting at that level by recruiting service standards. Delusional mf'ers.

There was a quote from Chad Simmons on the LSU board that "LSU remained at the top of his list" and AP quoted that and said he's been hearing LSU made a big late push
Price doesn't usually give much away last minute. It's definitely possible that more is being read into that ... than what is actually there.

He may very well pick LSU, but it wouldn't be the first this place jumped the gun with defeatism, by reading tea leaves.

Right on.

And 😂🤣😭 at that closing! Is that a bigl™? Because I might need to change the tagline under my avi from "Pocket presents" to "You delusional mf'ers!"

Delusional and unrealistic. Ironically they call themselves realist. 🙄

I can see both sides of the argument. We've had great success at some positions, and not as much success at others. It's not delusional to say we've missed on a lot of our top choices. That's true. It doesn't mean we've settled for bad players. Missing on Cai Bates (assuming nothing changes, and we do) sucks because it's to a fake HC and a program we embarrassed last season. You would think we'd have an edge over LSU. Sure, you can point to their success with Burrow, but after that, the program dropped like a rock. Anyway, point is it sucks to lose to LSU given we currently have the brighter trajectory.

More targets will emerge as players begin to play their senior seasons. Coaches may find another DB they like, or they might be happy with who we have. We have 4 guys committed for the secondary. But if they see someone they like, they'll pursue.

Before all is said and done, we'll miss on more guys. And it's okay to be disappointed when we miss on guys. But it doesn't mean our coaches suck. As we continue to have success, recruiting will improve, class to class. Hopefully we eventually get to the point where we can build classes like UGA and Bama. We just have to keep winning. And this staff has shown they can win with less.

You think we surpassed LSU as a program bc of 1 good season? They won a NC 4 years ago. Won 10 games last year despite us smoking them. They also beat Bama like we did. They played in SECC game.

We’re still very much on the climb. Vols weren’t supposed to do what they did in Baton Rouge last season. Weren’t supposed to win 10+ games, beat FL, Bama. Weren’t supposed to be able to beat Clemson. That’s what makes this so fun.

I agree we’re in a better spot (but ya know, we’re Vol fans) but that’s bc I believe in Heupel. Gonna take sustained success tho like you said.

Georgia was stacked when Kirby got there. The recruiting machine went into overdrive when he got there. They're doing the same thing they were doing before NIL. So you've got cash payments, plus NIL, plus the car giveaway.
