'24 FL CB Cai Bates (FSU Commit)

On AP’s note from earlier today on Cai Bates. He is eyeing the Georgia game as a date to return to campus. Not locked in yet, but seems to be trending that way right now. He likes how TN has continued to prioritize him despite the fact he has been committed to LSU. He is and has been been having positive dialogue with TN multiple times a week for the last few weeks. Imo TN could have a shot here down the stretch as things are uncertain on the defensive side of the football at LSU

Doesn’t look like you’ll have to root for much. It’s more like a foregone conclusion lol. They are Sal Sunseri bad on D
You get what you pay for Brian Kelly is a offensive HC ..his defenses at Notre Dame never set the World on fire...one year they were good on defense then got @$$ handed to them in Title game...

Kelly isn’t a NC coach.

He’ll win you 10 games but won’t do anything meaningful in the play offs.
He could, but he's the type that would require a generational QB, and multiple top 3 classes. Would have to out talent teams. And he's such a douche, that will never happen.

To be fair, over the last 20 years only 10 coaches have won a NC:

Saban - 6
Kirby - 2
Dabo - 2
Urban Meyer - 3
Les Miles lol - 1
Mack Brown - 1
Pete Carroll - 1
Ed Orgeron lol - 1
Jimbo - 1
Chizik - 1

Orgeron, Chizik, Mack, Jimbo caught lightning in a bottle. Urban and Carroll no longer CFB coaches.

I will give Mack credit for having a lot of good seasons leading up to the NC in 2005. Texas was 4-7 the year prior before MB took over. He still has some mojo left too. Jimbo only had one bad year at FSU which was his last but he has clearly fallen off even though the aggies continue to land highly rated prospects.

Mack Brown is a fantastic football coach. What he did at North Carolina the first time and now the second time, was/is amazing. He turned Texas around when they fell off the map and brought them one of 3 NCs in their history.

He will be in the college football HOF and is more than deserving.

That’s not saying much. It’d be hard for any coach at this level to not compete for NCs with multiple top 3 classes and a generational QB.

I used to know his brother Watson really well. What’s funny is Mack is the least cerebral in terms of a football mind, than Watson. However Mack is excellent at being the head coach and manages people and the game and the program.

His family are legends in Tennessee and Mack is genuinely a great guy.
