Florida in trouble

Florida may get a slap on the wrist, but since they reported it and it was an isolated incident there really isn't much to get worked up about.

Besides, if you put Tennessee in their shoes, how would it be Tennessee's fault if a player up and took this money, and the school then reported it? Players are not slaves.

Is that you Jesse?

After all of his holier-than-thou b.s. last week, where is lawgator and his sanctimonious lectures....

Now we know how Uncle Urbie does it in Gainesville. Is anybody surprised?

No actually you are in trouble because regardless of what happens here you will be marked down as an offender. If something happens in the near future then youll be deemed repeat offenders. It is a mark on your record regardless of UFs involvement. So, yes, you are in trouble. Furthermore the least that comes out of this is a vacated bowl victory. I think a few schollies but nothing too major. If UF didnt know about it then it can indicate that Meyer runs a loose program. Which is also not good.

One more point. This could also open up a can of worms that UF doesnt want opened. If the NCAA finds a hint of something else you know they will investigate

What?

Right here. If Pouncey took the payment and the school found out and didn't stop it, that's a problem for institutional control. If the program did not follow whatever required safeguards are out there for this (and I wonder what they would be), then that's an institutional problem.

Otherwise, this is a mistake by Pouncey and the agent that may have repercussions for them. There is nothing UF can do to Pouncey, now.

As far as vacating a bowl win, I don't know exactly what the criteria are but that would of course totally suck and Pouncey would be a very disfavored fellow amongst Gator fans. From what has been reported thus far, this seems very different than the R. Bush scandal out at USC.

If in the end we do have to give back our W over Cincy, oh well. We will look at our BCS championship trophies and somehow get past it.

I don't see anything coming of this for Florida, but this isn't the first time the agent paid a college player.

He may be looking at some trouble.

florida will have to pay back the millions they got for playing in the sugar bowl---but that's pocket change for their program. Foley can just write a check from the petty cash fund.
