If he's out, the clock starts on the snap.
If he was down inbounds, the ref starts the clock.

There's a bit of difference in how quickly they have to snap it. At least I think that's the way it goes.

I was supposed to pick my wife up the night we went into 5 overtimes vs Alabama, had it timed perfectly to get to the airport from the stadium. Parked way down Neyland so I could get on 129 quickly. Was young enough and in good shape 20 years ago so I could jog to my car from the stadium pretty quickly. 5 was about 3 overtimes too many it turned out. That was back when I didn't see the need for cell phones too.

Had we lost she wouldn't have let me hear the end of it. With the win, she was over it by Christmas.
