Florida DE star arrested days before 'Bama tilt - College football- nbcsports.msnbc.com

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Top-ranked Florida could be without one of its best pass rushers against No. 2 Alabama in the Southeastern Conference championship game.

Defensive end Carlos Dunlap was arrested early Tuesday and charged with driving under the influence, just days before the biggest game of the season.

“We are aware of the incident and are currently gathering more information,” coach Urban Meyer said in a statement released by the school.

ROFLMAO!:)

CUM's commitment to discipline means that Dunlap will be suspended for the coin toss.

Ok.... Kiffin kicked those players off the team. DUI is stil DUI, does it deserve no punishment?

I'm meaning that in the way of "now it's your turn" etc. Saying that Gators are now on the hot seat and acting that our scenario is on the back burner isn't sufficient. DUI isn't Armed Robbery.

agreed,

but Dunlap was more likely to kill someone DUI than "our" guys were with a pellet gun.

you have to laugh about it now (and cry)

IMO opinion its nearly as bad. The reason for DUI laws is that you put yourself and more importantly others in danger of serious injury or death.

What our guys did was Grade A stupid and they deserved the punishment they got

but don't diminish a DUI, it is just as dangerouse

It has the same potential for a bad outcome, yes. But its not viewed by the law with the same disdain due to lack of intent.

I personally don't care about that since he was so idiotic to have done this, and especially when he did. He ought to be suspended for the game purely for the horrendous lack of judgment.

I couldn't agree more. That is what pissed me off the most about our situation. Why do that to your team. How selfish.

The law is the law and that will work itself out, but to do this to your team is reprehensible

how many of you could have gotten duis in your life (particurally in college) if you got unlucky? just saying

I am hearing he will be suspended for at least the SEC Championship Game. I would not have a problem with him being suspended for the rest of the year. No need to deal with this crap. This is why i told gators to not revel in UT's problems with the law because sooner or later we will be dealing with as well because these are kids and they make mistakes. The only good thing about any of this is that nobody got hurt or even killed because of Carlos's stupidity.

Agreed. It could have been much worse

This happens to everyone. No fan should ever gloat on another's misfortunes, they won't enjoy it when it comes back around. And believe me, it always does.

How many of you have gotten so obliterated that you fell asleep in your car, with it running, at a stoplight?

I realize the insidious nature of drinking and driving in that it is the nature of the beast that it both impairs your judgment and your ability to recognize that you are impaired. But if you are at the point that you are driving and passing out, I think that's so far past the tipping point as to be really outrageous.

Still, I get your point.

i've almost fallen asleep sober once or twice, but i agree. obviously a massive lapse of judgement, but nothing i haven't seen from other people when i was in college.

What is really unfortunate, and yet telling, of the society we live in is that if someone were driving drunk and killed someone then they could be charged for manslaughter and, in this case, would most definitely be kicked off the team. Yet, because he just fell asleep he will probably be suspended for the SECCG and able to return for the NC.... So the result, rather than the act itself, is the deciding factor.
