Not only would firing Helton be a huge mistake, hiring Freeze would be a horrible decision, as well. Freeze's offensive philosophy is the EXACT OPPOSITE of Pruitt's. Have any of the "HIRE FREEZE" crowd even thought to themselves how ridiculous it would be to hire an "Air Raid" OC for a "Power Run" offense?

This off season will signal a familiar refrain for Vols fans. Another seasons of excuses for a team that under-performed. “They’re too young.” “They’re not his guys.” “We don’t have the athletes.” This was Vanderbilt, and it was a massacre. There is simply no excuse for Tennessee to ever lose to Vanderbilt for three straight seasons by a combined score of 125-72.

Is Pruitt the answer for a program that is desperately seeking to return to national prominence. Or is he yet another false prophet for a fan base still in their desert exodus?

This would be a terrible decision and will make it much more difficult for Pruitt to succeed long-term. This was a 3-win team without Helton. Good OCs are going to realize this is an impossible job with impossible expectations and be relunctant to come here. I hope this rumor is 100% false.
