Football Scoop reporting Helton is out

Philip Fulmer and Pruitt agree to bring Cutcliffe in? Hummm?? Makes you wonder doesn’t it?? You never know what Fulmer will do around here?🍊🍊🍊💣💣💥💥💥💥🤫🤔

If you guys REALLY think UT is going to dish out big bucks for an OC then reality hasn't kicked you in the nads enough over the past 10 years...He'll go get a name that is barely known and swear he is one of the brightest young minds in football...And the fanbase will buy into it and go crazy until he lays an egg...Same old story.

Helton would have been the 7th highest paid assistant in the country in 2017.

I hope we don’t get rid of him. All of the players are learning a new scheme and we have undersized lineman. I wouldn’t mind dumping a truck full of cash for Mike Munchak to be our offensive line coach.

I mean...just this game alone....Vandy had about a dozen variations of a swing pass/RB or flanker screen. And they were SO good at them all - it's like they were constantly running downhill and there was little we could do about it. Whereas we had zero effectiveness in the short passing game. No way to utilize the speed we have....why wasn't Chandler catching 5 passes a game?

He knows Pruitt can’t handle this much more and will resign mid season next year. Fulmer will step in as interim and not step out until he’s fired again.

He’s been highly successful everywhere he’s been but here. Makes you wonder......

Rumors I heard was Mike talked about having Clawson as coach in waiting eventually when he was hired as OC and the downfall started from there with Fulmer since that’s exactly how Fulmer got the UT job.

I’ve tried to explain it but let me try a different way. Let’s assume we’re not talking about Tennessee athletics where you may feel like we’re just playing with Monopoly money.

When I have to let someone go at work, and I am their manager, it reflects poorly on me.

I hired that person meaning I did the vetting on the front end and made sure we were on the same page about goals, expectations, experience, etc.

I am ultimately responsible for developing them and getting the most out of them. And ensuring they are contributing to the goals of the organization.

Now sometimes I still have to let someone go, but the question that will ultimately be asked of me is how did you let that happen? It was my job to hire and develop a good fit.

It’s just the real world, Fox, and it’s not different for JP.

Problem with your analogy is what you call "real world" when compared to "football world". In the football world, replacing coordinators is common place. Some move up getting hired to be HCs. Some make lateral moves to another team. And some get fired. Football has a high turnover rate for coaches, so it is, in fact, different for JP.

How so? He took a shot on a guy he thought would do well and it failed. Why would that reflect really poorly? Its not the best look but why would it be extremely poor?

Is it ok to fire rookie coordinators you hired after one year?

If so wonder if that holds true for DC's? AD's? Anyone else?
