This from a Gator fan.

This Gator fan has been through the noise in the system with Spurrier...one reason he left and the program still hasn't recovered...you wouldn't want UT to go through that would you??

Bobby Petrino.

People will say he has not had a great year with Louisville this year, but the man puts up points.  Let him be head coach and take over the offense and give Chavis a raise and let him control the offense.

Or, Al Borges.
Has anyone seen Auburn.  Give me a break with our offensive line.

Do you guys seriously think Chief stays if CPF goes. I'm saying he goes with Fulmer to his next stop, and probably comes back to shut down our new offensive guru that you guys are wanting so bad.

I can't see anybody on that list who would give us a second thought.

Are you kidding. Buddy, I played in a golf tournament in Louisville this year, and Petrino was playing in my foursome with a wealthy UT alum.

He plays in a 40,000 seat stadium in the Big East. He would be in Knoxville in 3 hours.

Pat Hill would come in a minute too. He has worked his butt off to get a job like this.

SO you want a springboard coach that will step in for a few yrs then leave??

How badly has Miami suffered from Butch using them as a springboard?

Give me a break, I know as a Gator fan you want Fulmer to run this program into the ground.

As a football fan I've been through this bro...Fulmer has earned a couple bad yrs...you guys should respect your coach for what he's done at UT for many yrs..not just one bad yr.

And you have a problem with that right now.  At least Nick Saban left LSU loaded and they will be a powerhouse for years to come because of the few years he was there.

And then we're going through this all over again in 3-5 years.

The further they've gotten away from Davis's players the worse they've gotten. Remember Coker won the first two yrs with all of his players. Heres the Canes record in the last 11 ACC games:
Virginia Tech: 10-1
North Carolina: 7-4
Florida State: 7-4
Miami: 7-4
Clemson: 6-5
Virginia: 6-5
Georgia Tech: 6-5
Maryland: 5-6
Wake Forest: 3-8
NCST: 2-9
Duke: 1-10

Congrats they are tied with UNC and one game ahead of Clemson!

How does the staff put this season behind them? We might be 3-5 next year. Maybe a purging is in order. Plus we could hire several coaches that you don't think we can get. Refer to my previous post.

Given the choice I'd take Fulmer over either one of these guys.

That's were we will agree to disagree. CPF could never do what either one of those guys have done at their respective programs.

You do not have to go through this in 3-5 years if Tennessee would not just promote from within, but actually go out and get the best person available. I know people want to help those coaches who have been here forever, but the reason they have been here forever is because no one has come after them for a big time job. You can argue Chavis has had some opportunities, but if I remember correctly Cincinnati is even worse than we are.

It is always nice to stick by coaches who have helped out this University, but you eventually have to say enough. Get people in there who can actually develop talent.

You saw how a coach like Weis can do this.

I totally agree about Chow. He is there for a while. Fisher likes him and he is paid a lot of cash.

I agree that we need wholesale changes on the staff, especially on offense. But CPF has earned, imo, a chance to turn it around before he is run off.

Did UT just not play for the SEC championship last yr?? Yeah sounds like Fulmer needs to go. Has he not won 10 games 2 out of the past 3 seasons??

I agree wholeheartedly. Given that Fulmer HIRED all the incompetents on the staff, he should suffer no consequence.

I'm talking about someone who would seriously consider an offer. I'm not looking for all the bring in Spurrier stuff that ain't never gonna happen. Who in their right mind would come to a program that runs off a coach who averaged 10 wins a season because he had one bad year. The only type of coach we could get is a Nick Saban type who would use us as a springboard to the league.

this isn't one bad year. It's a program in decline.

2001: 11-2
2002: 8-5
2003: 10-3
2004: 10-3
2005: 5-6 :cross:

Other than 02, and this miserable excuse for a season, where's the decline? I see three 10 win season's in the past 5.
