Other than 02, and this miserable excuse for a season, where's the decline? I see three 10 win season's in the past 5.

Oh man that is terrible 39--13 excluding this yr. 10-3 avg season...just terrible.

So 43-20 is cool with u?
Since 98 our points per game average has dropped every year.

Since everyone seems to think CPF needs to go now, who is avaliable that would be a good coach for the Orange?

my question is...who wouldn't come to Tennessee? Do u all honestly believe that if we just opened the doors that no one would come here? How retarded can u get?

As a college football fan I'd hate to see a coach with one bad yr, the highest winning % in the SEC,a NC, just coming off an SECCG appearance be fired..not good.

You honestly think someone would want to coach a school that avgs 10-3 over the past 4 seasons..won several SEC Championships, a NC, and has one bad season and the coach is fired? Unrealistic expectations there.

Agreed, and Fulmer needs to seriously revamp the offensive staff. But until this year, we've still been winning, even with a mediocre offense. That's why Fulmer needs the chance to clean it up before he's run out of town. He's earned it.

That's were we will agree to disagree.  CPF could never do what either one of those guys have done at their respective programs.

your right...that's why he went undefeated!!!! in the toughest confrence in the nation after he lost one of the greatest QB's ever.

Seven years ago. Could never win at Louisville or Fresno where he would actually have to outcoach someone.

1996 Memphis
2005 Vandy

Fulmer now owns the 2 worst losses in the last 50 years of Tennessee Football.

2000 8-4 no championships
2001 11-2 no championships
2002 8-5 no championships
2003 10-3 no championships
2004 10-3 no championships
2005 5-6 no championships

52-23
no championships
unranked in 3 of 6 seasons
1 top 10 finish
No BCS Bowl appearances or wins
Below .500 against ranked teams
Below .400 against top 10 teams

2000-present vs big five
LSU 2-2
AUB 0-3
GA 1-5
ALA 4-2
FLA 3-3
TOTAL = 10-15

That's unacceptable for a top tier program. The issue isn't whether we are in a decline - that's a fact - but what to do about it. For those still arguing about the decline part, I think you'll be stuck arguing amongst yourselves while the rest of the world gets on with making the necessary adjustments to the program.

If we weren't in a decline, why would Fulmer want to make chanes?

They are not concerned with having a top tier program. Just concerned about meaningless, championship free, ten win seasons.

This season will surely take UT out of any serious discussion of being a top tier team. As if the two Peach Bowl debacles were not bad enough.

Liper, you can't argue with the pro-fulmer crowd using stats.
You have to focus on whose the biggest baby posting on the board. :focus:

Everyone defending Fulmer and saying this is just one bad year is nothing different than Fulmer on the sidelines clapping after a fumble or interception....complacency, apathy, etc. They're all clappers like Fulmer.

we are not perceived as having the toughest conference in the nation anymore. That was evident last year when a 12-0 Auburn cant even play in the championship game. The same thing would have happened this year to Alabama.

Like I said, other than 02 and this pitiful season, they have all been 10 win seasons> I guess anything short of the MNC is declining to some.

I agree... give Fulmer the chance to revamp the offense with a new OC before we start canning everyone.

That's what most of us are saying.

But he should have made those changes a long time go when "the lunatic fringe" were clamoring for it.

Many people have been asking for these changes for several years now.

If someone doesn't do something quick then this offensive (no pun intended) attitude will take over the last aspect of the team that still works.
