For Those That Question CDD

This thread has become utterly pathetic. I'm not going to get into an argument, but I have to say one thing. We have two Bama fans supporting our HC and giving information that supports a bright future for Dooley at UT. Then, we have a UT fan arguing pointlessly with other UT fans and doesn't support one thing about Dooley. Never thought I would ever see that.

This simply goes to show how ill-informed some people are.

No, that is when I started watching football and became a UT fan. Watching him run made me say "Wow, football is really cool and Travis Stephens is awesome." It also helped my pappaw had been a UT fan for 50 years. :)

Haha, it's cool. When I first read your post it just came across the wrong way. It just sounded like something I bandwagoner would say. I apologize.

You obviously missed a month ago where I said that Dooley was doing a good job so far.

I get it. Trust me, if I was a bandwagoner, I would have jumped ship a long time ago. But once a Vol, always a Vol. I'm hooked.

You came along during good times man, just understand that every program goes through tough times every once in a while. Tennessee is no different here. Hopefully, Dooley is the man who brings us out, and I believe he is. His personality and work ethic are just what we need to mend some fences and get us back. That's what I think anyways.

I think Dooley will get our program back on its feet.....I feel that in 2012 we will be in a great position to win the SEC

As recruiting coordinator(2000-2002) at LSU he identified talent for 3 years that lead to them winning the NC in 2003. After which he was still involved in recruiting but was working himself up the ladder into higher coaching positions under CNS, which BTW was the asst HC at LSU in 2004. So that shows you that CNS knew that he could coach at that level.

Now while in above position the talent he evaluated included these players. Not all have had successful NFL careers but they were great in college and hence why they were drafted into the NFL.

NFL Draft
Rd # selection
2006
1 30 30 Joseph Addai Colts RB
2 23 55 Andrew Whitworth Bengals T
3 4 68 Claude Wroten Rams DT
4 28 125 Skyler Green Cowboys WR
5 1 134 Kyle Williams Bills DT
6 28 197 Melvin Oliver 49ers DE
7 23 231 Bennie Brazell Bengals WR
2005
1 20 20 Marcus Spears Cowboys DE
2 11 43 Corey Webster Giants DB
4 3 104 Travis Daniels Dolphins DB
2004
1 15 15 Michael Clayton Buccaneers WR
2 18 50 Devery Henderson Saints WR
2 31 63 Marquise Hill Patriots DE
3 20 83 Stephen Peterman Cowboys G
5 10 142 Chad Lavalais Falcons DT
7 23 224 Donnie Jr. Jones Seahawks P
7 24 225 Matt Mauck Broncos QB

Not bad that in 3 years of identifying talent at LSU not only did CDD help them get players to win a NC he got 17 players drafted into the NFL. Also while still involved in the recruiting another 12 got into the NFL and help CLM win the NC in 2007. All the upper classman on the 2007 NC team was recruited by CNS and CDD. Even CNS said that CDD was one of the best recruiters on his staff and tried to get him on his staff at UA.

2008
1 5 5 Glenn Dorsey Chiefs DT
3 5 68 Chevis Jackson Falcons DB
3 6 69 Jacob Hester Chargers RB
3 18 81 Early Doucet Cardinals WR
4 21 120 Craig Steltz Bears DB
7 2 209 Matt Flynn Packers QB
7 25 232 Keith Zinger Falcons TE
2007
1 1 1 JaMarcus Russell Raiders QB
1 6 6 LaRon Landry Redskins DB
1 23 23 Dwayne Bowe Chiefs WR
1 30 30 Craig Davis Chargers WR
7 3 213 Chase Pittman Browns DE

Also all the fans that worry about star ratings take a look at this which I posted in another thread.

R McClain 4 stars and K Jackson 3 stars 1st rd draft picks this year
T Cody 3 stars and J Arenas 3 stars 2nd rd draft picks this year

M Ingram 3 stars Heisman trophy and M Dareus 3 Star protected top 10 pick next year

Just because a player has 5 stars means nothing if they can not produce in college on the field. CDD can identify talent that produces on the field and has a great staff to get it done. Be patient because I think UT is on the right course. But what do I know, I am only a UA fan.:)

Great contribution from a Rival fan. Took a lot of work to put that together. I can't imagine going onto a Bama site and pulling all of this together for them. Much appreciated!

Makes me like CDD even more!

on the dooley hire. The only thing worse than his record at La.Tech is the hype by our rivals that we have hired a quality coach. If this doesn't make you think, then nothing will.

Does make you wonder doesn't it? Honestly they all were probably thinking what we all were thinking, Dooley who? Yeah they're all loving it. Send Hamilton a thank you letter or fruit basket or something.

Even though you are a Bammer, I love your avatar and agree with your conclusion about DD. Thanks for a serious analysis and civil discussion.

Two things:

1) Why does a rival fan want us to succeed? That's just stupid.

2) I don't give a **** what a rival fan thinks of our coach. Sorry.

It comes accross to me as a frightening thing, ANYTIME, a Florida, or BAMA etc. fan LIKES our coach.... I always liked Zook and I thought Shula was an excelent coach and both were great recruiters too..... Maybe, they can get them back......recon? :moon2:

"Make you think"??? Makes me think you are not a Vol. It makes no difference what others think about our coach. I didn't care what they thought about Kiffin and I don't care what they think of DD. Kiffin poked them in the eye and I loved it. But that didn't win any games.

DD has a better than even chance to be successful at UT with our tradition, resources, assistant coaches and fan base, with the exception of "fans" like you. I am glad we have a young, energetic and smart coach on the up slope curve of his career than a "proven" coach who is not hungry, doesn't want to be here and is on the downslope of the curve. Fulmer was very successful, but is in the latter category as is Petrino, Miles, Nutt and others.

I never liked the Shula hire at bama, always thought it was a joke, the only thing that made it plausible to me was who his dad was. It was clear to me after the first year that the hire would only help set them further back. As far as zook went, I will admit I was a bit worried about him at Florida. Turns out I had a reason to worry as a Vol fan, it was everyone else that beat the zookster, but ol Fulmer couldn't crack the code. Go figure.

TW happens to be one of the best posters on this board. I'm pretty sure that most everyone else don't give a s*** about your opinion of him either.

Great post TW!

Most posters on here value anyone's opinion more than yours....that should make you think

seems to be 2 types of recruitment here, kiffin- get the most stars you can and see what you can do with them and dooley- have a plan and find players who fit the plan, interesting.

Yup. Pointing out that Dooley went 4-8 in his last year and basically had the same success as the previous coach at La. Tech shows I'm a retard? Ok then.

He also went 8-5 with a bowl win the year before that. LA. Tech hadn't been to a bowl since 2001 before that year. The next year when they went 4-8 they are rebuilding due to the loss of lots of seniors. Keep in mind, 3 of their losses that year were to Auburn, #11 LSU and #5 Boise St. They also lost to Navy that year who had a 10 win season. 3 more of their losses were also by a combined 5 points. Don't focus so much on 4-8.

They also had a ton of injuries...but of course that and everything you said is irrelevant

No offense guys as I like both of you as posters, but step back for a second...That is a lot of spinning going on for excusing a 4-8 season.

I don't think that being reasonable about why a season is a failure is the same as making excuses.

I don't think that being reasonable about why a season is a failure is the same as making excuses.

Every school that has a losing season has similar "reasons". God knows the Tennessee fan base had all the excuses in the world for Fulmer's 2 losing seasons. At the end of the day 4-8 is still 4-8.
