Former Coach Pearl serves BBQ for Lost Sheep Ministry

For someone in the ministry you sure do cast a lot of stones.

I could see where one would say that, as I have stated, that isn't my intention, I have never stated one way or the other if Pearl was doing it as PR thing or not. I have said it could be percieved that way or I even may lean that way. Read my posts on this thread also and I have even changed my stance a bit and realized I was being too harsh. As for some of what is being discussed, it isn't casting stones, it is talking facts of his departure.

Call him up and ask him to match donations with you.

First of all, much of what I write is tongue in cheek, like many posters on here. Secondly, I don't make millions of dollars so I wouldn't fare too well. Never said the guy wasn't charitable. I don't believe he deserved a mil when fired though, so I was making a joke about the buyout. Maybe it wasn't funny, but it wasn't meant to be a critique. Perhaps I should add the little yellow faces to make that clear. Don't have that option on a phone

You are absolutely, 100% wrong.
How many coaches can you name that has not been bought out when they have been fired?

Even Kelvin Sampson whose transgressions messed up Indiana's program much worse than ours and committed the same exact violations was bought out of his contract for 750,000 dollars by Indiana.

Sometimes its just a whole lot easier to give someone money to make them go away and be done with them than fight what they may or may not be owed because that could get ugly and not worth it.

Ask pearl's ex-wife how that works.

Tennessee paid him nothing when they terminated his contract in October. They could pay him nothing because they exercised certain sections of the contract that allow the contract to be voided due to NCAA violations.

He became an employee-at-will on October 8th, and worked until he was fired under a notice of agreement.

I don't think I've ever left any doubt that I detest Bruce Pearl. That said, I have no reason, based on other things he's quietly done in the community, that his actions last night were anything but genuine.

Of course, many of the same posters who will rush to this thread to deify Pearl are the same folks who mocked John Calipari, who has given more money to charitable causes than Bruce Pearl has made in his lifetime, raising a million dollars for Haitian erathquake relief as a publicity stunt.

You're right. It's supposed to go both ways.

There just aren't any rah-rah style positions at the next level. He's beat suited to to rebuild job that needs marketing and an up tempo game to bring excitement.

Damn. How much did UT press last year in the tournament?

I wouldn't hold my breath awaiting a ceremonial NBA position. The GM that pulls him down as his defensive guy is dancing with unemployment.

What's on Pearl's resume in 5 years?

In all seriousness, I think Pearl would be a great fit to coach the Harlem Globetrotters. It'd get him back on the sideline, coaching a brand of basketball that he's familiar with, and would allow for him to be the charismatic showman that we all know and love.

Imagine much?

He recruited well, but the majority of his signees either underperformed or had serious disciplinary issues.

Let's forget the final four he was an inch away from getting with the world on his shoulder because he told lies.

As a defensive coach? Mediocre with about a 10 game stretch of respectable. As an offensive coach - utter disaster.
