Former Coach Pearl serves BBQ for Lost Sheep Ministry

He didn't "allow" them to do anything. He had no choice in the matter. He also kept lying and cheating, not doing all he could to keep job. Don't hate the man at all, just hate the way people look past facts in over the top blind adoration of the guy.

Noone can tear up his contract without him allowing it....He did not continue cheating and lying after the fact. He may have deserved to be fired for lying but the hate he receives is beyond ridiculous.

Before I get called a Pearlophile, I support Coach Zo 100%. LOL

In all seriousness, I think Pearl would be a great fit to coach the Harlem Globetrotters. It'd get him back on the sideline, coaching a brand of basketball that he's familiar with, and would allow for him to be the charismatic showman that we all know and love.

Reunited with Chism? Williams would be great with the Generals, arguing with refs, distracting refs to the antics of the Globetrotters. You may be on to something big here

You're saying he can move up to a higher level to pass the time. How is that different?

It's not necessarily a higher level as far as coaching goes. Some of the assistant jobs in the NBA aren't nearly as good as a head coaching job at a major program in a power conference.

Like I said, it's an idiotic parallel

Again, can't speak for others but it isn't hate from me. Not a fan of his at all, but not hate. Liked him and appreciate what he has done, but have been really disappointed by many things he has done while at UT as well

Exactly. He can show them how to get destroyed by a ball-screen offense by implementing the infamous "ice" strategy.

For guy that cant recruit, coach offense, or defense.....He sure won a lot of games here in the past six yrs.

You cant tear up a contract bc a person tells a lie... Contracts would be shredded all over America. LOL

If the lie violates his duties as a coach, as outlined in said contract, then yes you can. A school would be stupid not to include such a clause in a contract.

He recruited well, but the majority of his signees either underperformed or had serious disciplinary issues.

Ok his recruits underperformed, he cant coach offense or defense... How do you explain his six yr run of success?

How many other coaches in America surpassed what he accomplished?

They can fire him and buy his contract out but they cannot tear the contract up.

No agent in his right mind would allow a coach to sign a contract like that.

Then what do you suppose UT did last fall when they terminated his contract, and yet he continued on as coach of the men's basketball team?

Bruce allowed them to tear it up to try and save his job...The university could not do it themselves.

All coaching contracts include having your contract terminated based on major NCAA violations. Any school would be completely stupid not to include that in all contracts.

Bruce let them tear his contract up because he loves UT. Bruce can get an NBA job whenever he wants one. This thread is awesome.

It's amazing isn't it. Pearl must have been some kind of Houdini, because according to our resident experts(LOL), he can't coach, develop or evalutate players.

I get as much enjoyment from this forum as any I have ever visited.
