Former Coach Pearl serves BBQ for Lost Sheep Ministry

I wouldn't hold my breath awaiting a ceremonial NBA position. The GM that pulls him down as his defensive guy is dancing with unemployment.

Bruce made the mistake of getting fired at a time Elgin Baylor is no longer running an NBA franchise.

See, this is how these threads get hijacked. MY bad, I thought maybe his connection with Grunfeld might help him out if he needed work next year.

Regardless of the so called experts here, I stand by my opinion he could work in the NBA if he desired.
I'm not trying to change your opinion. I just find it far fetched, to put it mildly.

I'm a fan of what he did here, but the Xs and Os were consistently puzzling.

I'd pay courtside prices to see a guy like Thibodeau or Pop tell Pearl to shut the hell up, go talk to Cheryl Miller and leave the coaching to the adults.

Now, show some proof your choir boy Cal has given more to charity than Bruce has made in his lifetime

I agree, I just happen to believe Grunfeld would help him if needed. I am certain, regardless of the smarta** comments from the classless section, that Pearl would know his place in the NBA.

Of course, compared to D'Antoni, Pearl would look like John Bach or Dick Harter on the Knicks bench.

After what happened at TN, I'm not sure Grunfeld would try to help him obtain any other job, college or NBA. He's shown nothing that would indicate any NBA team would have interest in him.

I don't care about cronyism and find it meaningless. I thought you were talking about a job on merit.

Grunfeld is close enough to being fired for turning yet another franchise into a dumpster fire that taking care of Pearl is probably well down his to do list.

Uh, the guy's a world-class defensive guru. Those don't exactly grow on trees. He'd have an NBA job faster than it takes a high school junior to polish off a kosher hot dog.

The original statement about Pearl working in the NBA was based on another poster stating he would be out of basketball for a few years because of the sanctions. My point was that he could work in the NBA regardless.

I couldn't see any NBA franchise touching Bruce Pearl. Not because of the sanctions he'll face(which wouldn't matter anyways), but just because Pearl isn't very well equipped to coach in the NBA in any capacity.

And when Jim Tressel gets fired at OSU, maybe he can take Belichick's job.

In all seriousness, I think Pearl would be a great fit to coach the Harlem Globetrotters. It'd get him back on the sideline, coaching a brand of basketball that he's familiar with, and would allow for him to be the charismatic showman that we all know and love.

He's more of a rags to riches guy. He should take over the Generals and coach them up.

I like how you think.

One would have thought the same about Kevin O'Neil due to his screaming and sideline antics, but he was an assistant for a few years in the NBA.

I am not saying Pearl is going to be a head coach in the NBA, I am saying he might could get an assistant job in some capacity. Just because some of you guys think he can't coach or doesn't have a place in the NBA doesn't make it so.
