First, it's nice to have a post disagreeing with me from someone that's not an idiot like some of the others in this thread. Now, I'm not assassinating Pearl's character at all; Parrish's article tells everyone what Pearl's about, and it's himself. He destroyed his own character; and, when I learned that initially Pearl was placed in a difficult situation, I said as much and acknowledged I was wrong.
What was reported to VQ is that Pearl was extremely unhappy that he was "only" getting a $1 million in buyout money. I'm just saying if he really cared anything about his assistants, he'd said, "You know, I've made millions and millions of dollars from UT. Just split the buyout." Shockingly, he didn't. I'm not saying he had to or was obligated to; I'm saying it would have been the right thing to do.
Conjecture? Fired and staring at a 3 year show cause is conjecture? Interesting approach to take that guy and decide to argue about his solid character.

Could he have split his severance? Sure. I just can't buy into the idea that it was the right thing to do. While he did make millions of dollars, they were compensated nicely as well. They were the third highest paid staff in the SEC.
Honestly, it seems like none of this staff had a lick of sense. None of them thought to build a nest egg. If I recall correctly, before he landed the Hackney job, Pearl was going to have to sell his house as well. I know he's better off than they are, but still, it seems they all liked to live high on the hog.
At least you're above all that. Highest road I've ever even seen.

So hit the 'Report' button and stop contributing to the crapfest. The last thing we're patrolling in late September is a basketball thread. This place has never been known to take the high road.
Address me in a civil way and you'll get it back. Act like an ******* and you'll get it back in spades.
Check every single one of my replies to someone. I'm civil with them until they act like an *******. LawVol is not civil with anyone. He fires off personal insults and name calling on the first reply because he's an immature kid. Again, if the mods truly upheld their rules, his ass would've been banned a long time ago. I've watched him and others do it for years.
That's a reasonable position. I just feel like if I was placed in that situation, and I really blamed myself as much as Pearl pretends to, I'd want to take care of the guys that worked hard for me, especially if I was a millionaire like Pearl. Just my take.
He's a slimy cat, but not because of this. The article was trash, but that doesn't change who the guy is.

I think the fact still remains that in any other field, we would all find it ridiculous, the notion that a fired employ is entitled to financially compensate his subordinates that were also fired for an offense, of which, they all share equal blame.

Parrish's article is taken as the Holy Bible, yet Griff's article, because he has his head up Pearl's ass, is to be thrown away. Love how that works.
This is some good comedy relief.
"Hey, Tony, Steve and Jason, I know you're healthy and all and can work yourself and I got you a severance that UT didn't want to give, but here's some of my money because well, you deserve every bit of mine. Maybe one day you can just sit back and hope the gov't takes care of you too."
Maybe it's because I was raised a navy brat, but I believe in a leader putting the welfare of those below him before his own. I'm not saying I would have given them a dime, or that they deserved any money from Pearl, but if Pearl truly does blame himself... In that position I'd do what I could for my guys. Loyalty is an important quality. At least to me.

If Pearl was such a bad guy, it's funny that Shay stayed with him for 10 years. You'd think if he was such a slimeball and a horrible boss then Shay would be quick to leave after 1, 2, or even 3 years. Yet, he stayed for 10. That's funny, because whenever I had a boss that I didn't like working for I immediately was looking to work somewhere else. I didn't stay around for 10 years.
