Foster about to throw us under the bus on ESPN...

This Tennessee fan base is really loyal to the school when this kind of crap surface. I commend you all on that.

This kid was a legend around here for many years, but he steps outta line, and he becomes a pile of crap. That's called loyalty in my book. Good for you.

Meanwhile, I need him to put up good numbers because my fantasy team has sucked lately.

Yea, he loves us. He used UT on ESPN 30 for 30 as a motivation tool to become the "best RB in NFL" while stating things like he was just "misunderstood" here and that he was mistreated in terms of the amount of carries he received his senior season. Poor Fulmer was on there hearing this crap and as nicely as he could said look dude has talent but he made mental errors in huge games. Take the orange sunglasses off and lay down the democratic views for a minute and realize what you some of you guys are saying. You can't connivence anyone with a brain that Foster came back his senior year to help the team. He ranked only sixth in the SEC for YPG his junior year, and he had an outrageous number of carriers. He padded his stats against terrible teams, and he had a fumble issue. Lets not act like Foster was a lock first rounder here, or act like he passed up millions to come back here. He's no Peyton Manning.

1. I'd use UT as my motivation to become the best RB in the NFL too.... I don't see the issue with this
2. he WAS mistreated as RB his senior year.... Fulmer convinced him to stay. He did to support the team, and look what happened to his draft stock and his overall image from the fans
3. Orange glasses? And democratic views? Are you drunk this afternoon already? lol
4. what skill position player DOESNT pad their stats against weak teams? And he has NEVER had a fumbling issue... just because he had one or two at bad times =/= a fumbling issue.
5. can you not even read? Where in my post did I ever say he was a 1st round lock? I explicitly said he was a 2nd round projection
6. what does Peyton Manning have to do with anything here?

Well, I didn't really intend to generalize all of you. My mistake and no offense meant.

So what if they have families or when the cafeteria is closed or they need to dress up for something but all they've been given for free was some adidas climalite t shirts?

If they're so worried about those things they should quit playing games and go get a paying job, college football is not a job they're already getting 10 times more than I ever did - a free ride to school. How many of us have student loans? I know I'm still paying mine and will be for the next 10 years probably.

You not having Div. 1 or 2 talent has nothing to do with what college athletes deserve.

It's really simple, they make the choice to accept the offer of a free ride to school to play football, or they can say no. They're getting exactly what they deserve, an opportunity to audition for the NFL and/or get an education. If you think these guys are really going hungry because Arian drama queen Foster says so, just lol :eek:lol:

Legend??
This kid was trashed on here more than any running back I can remember.
I agree with you on the fickle fanbase part. As soon as Arian becomes an all pro I hear more VFL and how he gave his all for UT bs and now we're back to throwing him under the bus
Lol

So Fulmer deserved millions while Foster deserved cafeteria food, athletic gear and an education. Fantastic.

Absolutely. Fulmer earned his millions through hard work and success. Started right where Foster was .... a college football player for UT. Made it, didn't complain and demand a handout like Foster.

If we don't have to follow rules that apply to everyone, but displease us and benefit others more, then why do we pay taxes? Following Arian's logic, we don't have to... and shouldn't!

Foster was still at UT in 2008.

I dont remember much offense from him that season but yes he was, and that was the year he became disgruntled -- was in this book

You know why I'm the only one responding to your counter argument here? It's because your argument sucks. You feel sorry for Foster and don't blame him for having a grudge against us? So, I guess it was Fulmer and the fans fault he fumbled those balls? Dude his draft stock diminished because he became a lability for us in big games. I'm sorry he had to be a pansy about it and act like we didn't accept him, but facts are we, VOL fans, want to win games. Foster has only himself to blame for not getting drafted, and when he did get his shot in the NFL he publicly used us a his scapegoat and motivational tool to illustrate to the world what fueled him to success in the NFL. I hate to break your heart but Foster cares about himself not UT. You want to see a real VFL go watch Eric Berry and how carries himself in terms of being a VFL and great citizen of the NFL. Foster is using UT as a means of publication for his agenda, and he knows that the media will blow his story up because it involves cheating and the NCAA.

Because he's trying to fix a broken system. Good for him.

It is broken but its not like they dont get taken care of. They have meal plans and should never go hungry. They get a free education and get to play at one of the best Universities and the best conference. I know alot of the fans treated him like sh*t while he was here and that probably has something to do with it but he needs to keep his mouth shut. Hell if he was getting all this money why did he have to call Fulmer and threaten him if he doesnt feed him? But he still doesnt need to act like the players dont get anything and are treated so bad, he is making alot of moneyand needs to be happy and appreciative instead of trying to cause his alma mater problems. Really dont see anything coming of this, especially if Manziel got off scott free unless alot more guys come out and more recent. Really not sweating this one, just sux the way he is acting and the obvious grudge he seems to be holding against the school and a few fans.

No, I do not "feel sorry" for Arian Foster. Do I think he kinda got screwed at UT his senior season? yeah a bit, but that doesn't mean I feel sorry for him lol. Im just saying considering the circumstances, I can see why he may/may-not hold something of a grudge. But does he? NO lol. If he really didn't like UT, why would he voluntarily be coming to visit the UT football program in the off season and hang around?

And no it wasn't Fulmer's or the fans fault he fumbled. It was his. But guess what? Fumbling happens in football. It happens, so move on. I'm sure he tried extra hard to fumble in those games because unlike Vol fans, he actually wanted to lose. He didn't like winning at those points in his life.

It wasn't the best thing for him to use us a scapegoat for his draft issues, but it is partially the truth. He was a projected 2nd round pick before he decided to stay. He stayed, and they changed the way he was used which affected his perceived draft stock. Did he magically become a worse back his senior year? Then did he magically become a top-tier back after he got into the NFL? No, he's always been a good back. Im sorry no one around here can look back and appreciate what we had a pretty damn good RB.

Eric Berry has nothing to do with this topic. I love Eric Berry, but he just has no place in this thread.

Great post, couldnt have said it better myself. All about one selfish guy that continues to hold a grudge, against the fans in particular.

I've never seen one logical poster that said Foster couldn't run the ball. You're dang right he was good, one of the best, but he also brought unneeded attention to himself. If he was as poor as he says he was, then if I were him I'd be thanking God everyday for the chance to make something of myself at UT. Fulmer gave him that chance, and UT and this fan base through support paid for him to have that chance. It's just disrespectful to use UT, the place that gave you an opportunity when many big D-1 schools wouldn't, as a means to create awareness toward a problem. He illustrates a true lack of understanding and appreciation towards the place that allowed him to get where he is today. UT was his home and provider for four years, and his thought process for his interview was, "Oh I'm not scared of the NCAA". Well, I'm glad Foster, but in the mean time you bring more negative attention to UT in the same week that we got hammered by Oregon and Couch and Bray get caught taking money.
