Are you referring to Christian or Muslim violence? I am not sure since both have been associated with acts of violence.
Either way, it's people who use religious teachings as justification for their own selfish and violent acts.

i very much doubt that, but isn't today what we are talking about? when's the last christian leader who has suggested a crusade against muslims? how about the opposite? this is kind of like blaming current southerners for slavery.
What is the general opinion of the crusades?
The bloodbath wasn't exactly one sided.
