Fox being sued for allegedly broadcasting ‘lies’ about Dominion

What do you think lying is?
I'm only talking about opinions, not items reported as being factual. We simply aren't talking about the same thing.

Some of you are trying to to equate what Tucker Carlson has been exposed for, with either biased or sloppy journalism. That's not what Tucker Carlson is guilty of. He is guilty of being two-faced. Now, having said that, one isn't "better" than the other ... but they are different.

A person isn't lying when they are expressing an opinion. Their opinion is either something which they genuinely support, or it isn't. In Tucker Carlson's case, it has been established through his own private text messages, that many of the opinions which he has expressed on his show are disingenuous.

You can still believe and defend a person but think they are a total piece of crap. You can still believe something but also think that not all of it is true. Your can believe there was fraud but still day Joe won the election. Anyone who listens to TC can tell he is playing a character. He shall some truth, ask question and gives an opinion. Which apparently is worse then knowing continuing to lie so long as you wanna believe the lie you know to be false. TC doesn't exist or have the reach if MSNBC and CNN are not extremist.

Tucker Carlson's text messages are too directly at odds with opinions that he has expressed on his show.
Anyone who listens to TC can tell he is playing a character.
Attorneys for Alex Jones tried to get this defense to fly during his defamation suit. It didn't.

What city was his trial in?
Why does it matter?

Your explanation that Tucker Carlson is just playing a character, and isn't interpreted literally by the Fox News viewership, is not something that either Carlson or attorneys for Fox News have even tried to use as a defense.

Even the three old major TV news broadcasters slant the news on a daily basis. Watch the smirks and body language on ABC news, and consider the stories that they don't discuss. It's still lying by omission and using non verbal language to vilify.
There are no journalists anymore. Everyone is an activist, it’s just a matter of which side they support.

Ok, now we’re getting somewhere. You were hung up on them being different and I was hung up on they’re both bad, and not some ridiculous continuum of bad that is someone’s made up opinion. I could argue if you knowingly lie that is also being disingenuous and two-faced because if you know it’s a lie then you don’t believe what you’re saying. But, I digress. I’ll agree with your bold statement. They are different and neither is better than the other. Good Lord, I’ve found common ground with BB. I better check my premises.

It be cause we have a 2 tier justice system. On debating run city and states conservatives are prosecuted more often then normal. Meaning if he is say in Florida or somewhere else he probably wins. Same reason they charged Trump in NY. After the feds wouldn't do it. Save reason ultra liberal Austin Texas found a pro 2a man guilty of standing his ground during riots. And why a pardon is on the table cuz the convicted regardless of the law.

Really? How about all the shows on CNN and MSNBC where it was claimed things like Trump is a Russian spy, we have proof of collusion, and on and on and on when they knew it was all crap? Even if you claim they were duped then, at best, they’re terrible at their job. Don’t forget the Neo-Nazi lie about Trump calling them fine people, the whole Sandman debacle and so much more. It’s just you like the slant they put on things so you willfully keep your head buried and you always will.
Luther is trolling again. Saying completely outrageous things he knows are false just to keep someone on here engaged. Be careful of getting sucked in.

It did not involve criminal charges against a politician. This involved a defamation law suit against someone who called himself a journalist ... and there was no way in hell that he was ever going to win.

He literally tried to move the trial because he knew he wouldn't get a fair trial... The liberal judge denied it (I wonder why,). So that his peers would be liberals. Would you say a Muslim in Wartburg TN would get a fair trial... Or as you Dems line to say a black man in an all white town...

I say that when Alex Jones accused the parents of murdered Sandy Hook Elementary School children of being paid actors, and when he called the whole massacre itself a "hoax," he knew that he was lying . There is not a jury anywhere that would have found in favor of that lowlife. That had nothing to do with politics. It had everything to do with human decency.

LOL.

Just for one example ...

Rachel Maddow has the highest rated show on MSNBC. She is originally from Alameda County in northern California. She is a lesbian, who went to both Stanford and Oxford. Before joining MSNBC, she had a show on the liberal Air America talk radio channel, and worked for the Senate campaign of Barbara Boxer. There is no reason to believe that the liberal opinions that she expresses on her show, are not her own.

That is what is at issue here with Tucker Carlson. It's his private vs public dichotomy. Tucker Carlson is not who he purports to be on his show. In private conversations, Carlson emphatically announces his hatred for Donald Trump, and he explains his reasons for this hatred. On his show, Carlson does nothing but obsequiously kiss Donald Trump's butt.

You have no proof of Rachel Maddow doing the same thing. You have drawn false equivalencies in this discussion.

LOL

Given that she is so smart and from California you would have thought she would have debunked the notion that there was a tape that hookers pee'd on Trump while in Russia or that he was a Russian spy. Even when Danchenko was charged by Durham undercutting the democrat media driven narrative she doubled down:

Maddow insisted the indictment of Danchenko offers an "unmistakable impression" that it is "designed to smear Christopher Steele's intelligence reports as things that were deliberately made up and concocted by rascally Democrats."

"If the goal here is for this Trump-holdover special prosecutor to try to discredit the whole Russia investigation by arresting various sources for that investigation, to try to discredit the Steele dossier because so many people have been led to think that that's the basis for the whole investigation, to essentially get payback on anyone involved in the Russia investigation no matter how far down the chain, well, what do the actual investigators think about that, the people who actually carried out the Trump Russia investigation itself," Maddow asked.

She would also bring on Peter Strzok after it all fell apart and allow him to say this:

"So my worry is that as Americans hear this news- they don't really know how the Russian investigation ended, they hear these concerns and they say, ‘Well, there must be a problem.’ And that's being picked up and amplified by people who are seizing on this to say, ‘See the entire effort- everything Mueller did everything the FBI was nonsense, it was bogus. It was based on lies.’ And that just couldn't be further from the truth," Strzok said.

Her ratings were cratering and she was doing anything she could to keep the false narrative moving forward after being discredited.

Her ratings have always been pretty good. Easily the highest rated show on either MSNBC or CNN .... and once again, you are not talking about the same thing that I am ... You are making false equivalencies. Tucker Carlson expresses opinions on his show, that do not represent his genuine feelings. You have not provided a comparable example of that amid your rampant what-about-ery.

MSNBC and CNN are not like Fox--fact. MSNBC has a lefty lean, to be sure--but it does not spew conspiracy theories and bunch
of nonsense all day, every day. Their anchors are more reputable. Cable billionaire John Malone, who sits on the Warner Bros. board,
is now throwing his weight around: he wants CNN to become more balanced. Everyone should be more balanced---politicians, legislatures,
everybody. Unfortunately, it's not that way and it's been bad for the country. On the media side, Fox started this slide. On the political side, it
was the GOP, which veered far to the right. All one has to do is look at all the GOP/Maga crazies in Congress. When Lauren Boebert and Marjorie
Taylor Greene--two aggresively loud, uneducated rednecks--are major spokespeople for your party, there is a problem.

As for the gangster and Russia: It's certainly fair to say that he's been compromised by Russia. Why? No one knows for sure, but he is /always/
keen to heap praise on Putin, who is a war criminal and America's chief adversary. So why would he do that? It's treasonous. I suspect its part business and part the gangster's desire to be a dictator himself. He loves dictators--and I'm quite sure the U.S. has ever had a president/politician who is so enamored of murderous authoritarians. Russians also help bail out the gangster's business--they bought a LOT of his condos in various places, and the gangster has been trying for years to get a commercial built in Moscow. Every western bank but Deutsche Bank stopped lending him money long ago. Deeply corrupt business people should not be anywhere near the White House.

If in isolated instances or perhaps one host, I could accept that.

But it was every single one of their commentators. And they even communicated with one another what a bunch of crap it was. Sorry, but this was way past that hazy line between buying some, but all, of what you are selling.

They knew what they were selling was garbage but they also knew their audience wanted the garbage.

I'd be fine with a trial result whereby Fox paid some relatively small amount of damages but agreed to either drop the word "News" from their moniker or, at a minimum, ran a tag before each show that "This is not news."

Nolte: Fox News Wins Nearly Twice the Viewer Trust as Corporate Media

Fox News is the most trusted name in TV news by a wide mile against the corporate media.

According to YouGov’s most recent survey, 41 percent of those polled “trust” Fox News. Second place ABC News isn’t even close, with just 24 percent.

Far-left CNN earns just 22 percent of viewer trust, nearly half of Fox’s 41 percent (PLEASE stay tuned for an even more humiliating CNN number).

MSNBC sits at the bottom, with just 18 percent of viewer trust.

As was pointed out during the trial, there were many right-wing extremists who believed what Alex Jones was peddling. They harassed those Sandy Hook parents to no end with death threats, bricks thrown through windows and work place aggravation.

You are naive and as ideological as those you lament.

You ever read Bernie Goldberg's book? MSM bias has been going on for decades. It was obvious as Bernie Sanders saying he wasn't a socialist for decades.

In some cases it does ... you haven't mentioned any.
I gave you 2 hypotheticals and ,1 case the shooting in Austin...but your saying there wouldn't have been a better chance of an Alex Jones acquittal in a red state with a conservative judge as opposed to a liberal state with a liberal judge?
