Fox "News" is Crap

This is not necessarily a good thing. We used to have one good team, now we have a bunch of also rans that are more comptetive, that sucks.

You mean its a bad thing that wind or solar become more competitive because they are higher priced?

The flaw in that logic is the belief that we have a choice. Depending on who you believe, there's less than four-six decades of oil left. That it becomes pricier is inevitable.

This exchange is EXACTLY what I'm talking about re: this incredibly frustrating effort by uber-conservatives to make all people who are middle of the road or even a little left on some issues seem like radicals.

No one is "rejoicing" over high oil prices (except for those that own the oil, of course). But what some people who take a larger view of things recognize is that it was inevitable as the resource dwindled and demand grew that this kind of thing is natural.

Higher oil prices make it economically feasible to invest in and produce alternative energy sources. Until now, things like solar and wind power were too costly relative to the same unit of energy that could be prodcued from oil.

As those cost/unit lines get close to converging, the incentive to be on the front end and to develop alternatives grows. Its simple economics.

But noooooo. The conservatives have to make it seem like anyone who sees this bigger picture is an "environmental nut."

So because I don't want to pay more means I don't see the bigger picture? Talk about painting with a broad brush. It seems to me you're guilty of the very thing you accuse conservatives of being.

and it should be noted that one of those articles was writtin by the AP and the other by reuters. Is merle linking an article by the two largest news organazations in the world racist?

No, the flaw is that they have become more competively priced because we refuse to use all the natural resources we have.

In the long run not drilling and the eroding of personal liberties in the name of climate change will make this country green!

Yeah baby!

I fail to see a single mention in those articles that is racist in any way whatsoever and certainly not implying that minorities are stupid.

It implies that when people complain that some attack on Obama is racist, then they are really just using that to camouflage a legitimate complaint about Obama, policy-wise.

I have no doubt whatsoever that some people -- and particularly the likes of Sharpton or Jackson or even Spike Lee -- will see most criticism of Obama through racial lense. And they will complain about it.

And in doing so they ironically will hurt Obama because it will sure look to some on-the-fence voters that the angry black man that is Rev. Wright is lurking just below the surface.

I think that's what the hesitation is really about -- worry that Obama deep down empathizes (not just sympathizes, but empathizes) with the level of frustration that Wright has so as to make him so divisive and overly sensitive. I imagine taking advantage of this uneasiness and lingering suspicion that Obama has these same feelings as Wright (maybe not as strong, but there), is going to be a big part of the campaign.

This is Faux News and Drudge's fault?

did you see my second post? foxnews didn't write either article. AND there is no question that the press is TERRIFIED of criticizing obama because they don't want to be called racist.

This is an interesting dynamic and I am not being critical at all, just enjoying the politics of it all.

Some people claim that the press write only good things about Obama because they are infatuated with his charisma and his novel political success story, but others say the press won't write negatively about him for fear of being called racist.

I guess both could be true, right?

and yet you've completely failed to point to anything at Fox News that is blatantly racist, or even racially tinged.

i'd say the latter. 90% of the media has massive liberal guilt. the fact that someone could a) have a close personal advisor spout of racist diatribes, b) campaign on RAISING taxes, c) suggest massive increases in spending, and d) merle explain all this by saying he is for change YET still gets this kind of good press tells you he is treated differently than others for some reason. and funny i don't think it is just because of his shinny personality.

or address the fact that the two said articles were written by the AP and reuters which if anything have a historical liberal bias.

Law I can honestly say that I've done lots of research and concluded that global warming is not a real threat. That conclusion has little to nothing to do with my political beliefs.

you're a nutjob apparently. We're runnin out of oil in 40 to 60 years 'cause Law read on a couple of sites.

I find it difficult to have any kind of serious, rational conversation with anyone who neglects the seriousness of global warming. The line of thinking is not too far removed from "The World is Flat" and "The Sun Revolves Around Us."

And FoxNews is terrible. And George Stephanopolous is not too far behind.

Algore is "sold on it". It is reported that he has made over 100 million around the world PREACHING the Global Warming fear.

then I can rule out ever having a serious and rational conversation with you because I have never been convinced that global warming is anything other than a natural cycle and that mankind's activities are having a negligible impact.
