French Firefighter, 24, Dies while Battling Car Blaze on Sixth Night of Riot chaos as Sword-Wielding Vigilantes and 'football ultras' are seen patrolling streets amid desperate calls for calm

A young Parisian fireman was killed last night as he tried in vain to extinguish a fierce blaze in an underground car park as France suffered a sixth night of rioting.

Dorian Damelincourt, 24, was on Monday part of an emergency operation in the troubled suburb of Saint-Denis, just north of the capital.

He reportedly died of heart attack, according to a statement from Paris police. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

It comes as shocking videos showed gangs of youths looting clothing stores.

The huge extent of damage and vandalism caused in nearly a week of nightly riots in France has been dramatically underlined with a summary of recorded burnings so far, with the toll running to thousands of vehicles and buildings.

Ministry of the Interior figures taking account of damage to people and property during the now six nights of riots triggered by the shooting death by a police officer of an Algerian heritage teenager in a Paris suburb at a traffic stop reveals there have been 5,662 vehicle fires so far, reports Le Parisien.

The widespread destruction of vehicles, which as images recorded in the areas of unrest in France attest, include not just private cars but also trucks and buses. Trams have also been targeted by vandals. In one widely-reported case, a large truck was stolen by looters to ram down the doors of a mall to gain access to the merchandise inside. There were 1,919 vehicle fires on Thursday night alone.

I missed it, but that is normally how it works. They think they are getting or getting away with something that is twisted to gain power.

It was like the pro athlete that was celebrating the George Floyd riots until they got too close to his neighborhood and he started calling them animals.

I've seen some of those clips before, and one of them definitely predates all these riots.

Don't believe every (most any) tweet that WTNOB reposts here. He's not exactly scholarly in his research capabilities.

Quick background, a lot of the foreign Algerians are descendants of Algerians that sided with France in their bloody colonial war and had to flee Algeria or face death. Colonialism biting France here.

To be fair a lot of their success early on was still having the Roman Christian culture of the Byzantine lands they conquered in place. The early Caliphite was somewhat tolerant of Christians and Jews but later sects were not. (They may have had to be tolerant sue to Islam being the minority faith initially).

At least there were arrests. Now will they lock them up or turn them lose like our liberal cities do.
