Friday weigh in thread (suns out guns out challenge 8/31/2025)

UGH!! I'm back to +11. I'm gonna have to seriously step up my workouts and cut out the whole wheat stuff. More veggies and lean proteins.

And I'm going to lunch with my brother today. And there won't be a lot of choices for healthy. haha Oh well, I'll hammer hard tomorrow.

still 186 but dropped the body fat from 13.5% to 12% over the past 2 weeks. Feel leaner and stronger.

Up to 189. Think everybody had a bad week.

Here's positive & negative to remember. It takes 2-3 weeks for any increased training to produce results. So don't get discouraged. 2 weeks of inactivity can result in a 50% of aerobic capacity. So don't stop moving.

181... That puts me at +16 from goal and down 3lbs from last week. I cut out sugar and really hit the cardio hard this week. I'm sure at least 2 of the 3 lbs is water weight...

Ok, I started at 223 and want to get to 195lbs. So I was at +28, today I'm at 218 so I guess I'm at +23, but headed in the right direction.

Back up a pound this week, +24 even with working out 3 times this week. I hate plateaus...

Hello all...

This question is directed mainly to the few P90x'ers I've noticed on this thread.

I'm 35. 5'8", 185. Used to be a beast in the weight room in college (could bench 325+ back in the day ).

14 years, a professional career, family and child have sort of put a dent in all that.

Though I still have a few muscles hiding under some hefty layers of insulation, I'm pretty out of shape from a cardio standpoint.

I am thinking of ordering P90x but was worried when I read the reviews on the website - seemed to be primarily from people who were already workout dudes, marathon runners, etc., who were simply trying to spice up the routine.

What about just a regular old dude? A Vol fan who likes to fish, hunt, drink beer, watch football?

I've got the space in my basement, I think I can find the time to do it.

Good idea?

Any one can do it. The system is built on modification. Tony will tell you to keep pushing play and it is really that simple.

I would suggest getting yhe tony horton powerstands.

Ive used the door frame pull up bar and the perfect pull up bar you actually screw in. I prefer the perfect pull up bat.

I never used it or anything but i know a few people like you who have talked about it. They said it didnt get them ripped (but honestly, just improving a little bit is perfect) but it got them in better shape.

Go for it :p

6 weeks in. 20ish pounds lost. Its a great system. I will alter my old style workouts to use what I've learned but honestly I can see doing p90x and a month of my old workouts alternative for the rest of my life.

This...I'm 52 and did P90X for a little over a year, then switched to P90X 2 at the first of the year. The fitness test they want you to do will tell you how much "fun" you're gonna have initially. Anybody can do it provide you modify until you can hang with it. I had to use the bands for the first month because of an elbow injury. I can now do about 30 pullups--when I started I could do about 6.

Some tips:
Don't even begin to try and keep up with the freaks on the dvd.
Do what you can, and whatever you can do, do it the best you can. You'll see improvement fairly quickly.
Just survive the first week. Over doing the first week is probably why most will quit the program.

Awesome tips! Thanks guys!

I just got a Skype call from my younger brother (33), who is deployed in Africa for a year at a naval base in Djibouti.

He and a couple of buddies there are doing P90x - what a coincidence! He has finished / survived the first two weeks and is excited about the progress.(not to mention it helps pass the time out in the middle of nowhere apparently).

I told him I would do it too, so I guess I'm locked in now! Will order soon and keep yall updated.

218 yesterday, down to +43.

Also had a doctor's appointment last week (1/27) and got a blood lipid profile done.

Total cholesterol - 197
Triglyceride - 91
HDL - 46
LDL - 123
VLDL - 18
Chol/HDL ratio - 4.1
Total non-HDL - 141

Yeah...got some work to do.

You, my Vol Nation friends, are going to help me stay on track with my workouts and diet. Every Friday I will post my progress. Feel free to play along.
