Fulmer 2.0

They should, but they won't. And come next August they'll be back predicting 10-2.

By the time the Orange & White game rolls around I'm pretty sure Butch will "get it" and the college football world will be put on notice once again.

There are 13 freshmen and walk ons in the two deep. 3 of the past 4 games have been against the 1st, 4th, and 5th ranked teams in the country. Never mind the previous 6 games on the schedule. What do some of you guys expect? Improvement? Guess what? There is zero depth on this team and when you have your best players on the field 70 + snaps a game on top of all of the beatings that their bodies have taken over the last few months, their bodies, and their play, will regress.

Some of you guys live in such a fantasy land that I wouldn't be surprised if some of you still believe in Santa and the Easter bunny.
You don't understand, all these negative posts about the coaches and players are obviously from people who know much more about football than you and I! I stand amazed at their football knowledge. I bet Saban scouts every post on this site ... That is his secret!

Even in Fulmer's worst stretch, the Vols were going to the SEC Championship Game every three years. I'd kind of like to be that "bad" again.

With that said, Butch has won at every level he has coached. I like his chances to succeed at UT.

The ones who are complaining don't want to talk about he 13 freshman and walk-ons in the two deep.

Very well said. Butch needs to shake up his staff a little. He needs new coordinators for sure, a new WR coach, and he needs somebody who can coach special teams, because we sure don't have anybody who can. Also, he needs to take a hard look at this offense he is trying to run and add more two back sets and a downfield passing game with some play action. This crap he has run this year is garbage.

So after one year in a system with players who weren't recruited to run the system throw it away? So the system that has helped him win in the past scrap it cause you don't like it?

Jones has been successful with this staff at every stop. This is year 1 with Dooley's players; we won't know if Jones will succeed here or not until at minimum next year

Lol

you call 54-34 .614 and 1-2 in bowls successful ? Hell he couldnt beat Duke in the bowl game!

That is successful!?

So what do you suggest the Athletic Department do? Do you seriously think the University has the money to pay yet another fired coach and hire a staff that will live up to the standards of many on here, such as yourself? The economic part of the situation is a major reality in this.

Are you slamming Fulmer in a back handed way? Right now Jones is a fly on the wall compared to the coach they gave a lot of us all our great Memories. We have done nothing since he left, but beat a ranked SC team twice...yay.

Jesus, If I talked about my x-girlfriends as you all do about x-Coaches, my wife would punt me out the back door. Leave X's alone, I understand Dooley recruited them, but Butch needs to train, teach and Coach! Too many excuses! You're paid millions, Coach, win a few games.

I did notice us going more and more under center the last few games. Too many teams run the spread, I would not be shocked to see a change eventually.

Working on a budget, you get a budget coach? Right? That's what I'm taking from it.

Year one... First season.... And some people are actually in the mindset that Butch can't coach, and if we can't fire him, he should at least start firing his staff....man, I'd hate to have to work for you guys, your expectations are seriously unrealistic. I think most of us were hopeful things would be better than they have been this season, but knew in the back of our minds realistically we weren't gonna be very good. Help is on the way, but remember the help will mostly be freshmen, just out of high school, so before next season starts, try to come to grips with the fact that we are probably not gonna win an SEC Championship next season either.

We should be happy if Jones matches what Fulmer did. I take calling Jones Fulmer 2.0 as a huge compliment. That means we will be near the top of the SEC east, competing for SEC titles every year, having a bunch of 8+ win seasons and a national championship.

Well I'll talk about it. The idea as to why people are mad isn't because of their lack of understanding of where our roster is, they are mad because they see no risk taking past a bone headed fake FG attempt. I don't care if Elmer Fudd was our QB last night, the pass plays we ran where terrible. Through our offensive scheme we have eliminated play action and power sets. The few times we run a FB set it looks like we practiced it one time, leading to the FB blocking worse then a 90 year old Grandma. If you can't get 3rd and two consistently in the SEC you might as well give it up. We can't do anything behind center on offense, and it kills our redzone efficiency. If you can set up the play action then it'll open up the middle of the field to get some big plays. Until then teams are going to pack the middle and stop the run and read option, and when it's 3rd and 5-7 they are going to blitz and cause havoc. We don't make the defenses we play in any way think about our plays because we are so predictable.
