Fulmer 2.0

Give me a break, we'd be lucky if Jones was Fulmer 2.0. Did you forget Fulmer's all-time record? SEC East Championships, SEC Championships, National Title? "Everyone" wanted him gone, but we haven't done $hit since he got fired. Jones is recruiting well, you haven't given him a chance to see if he's going to make a coaching change, and he's a proven winner from his past experiences. He gets it figured out and then wins. I was pissed about last night, but a lot of people need to take a chill pill.

I woke up this morning and dreamed that Fulmer was dating Jane Fonda and he only weighed 140 lbs and we won those cursed SEC championships in Atlanta. I am a little religious and athiest, but we are cursed. Screw you if you don't think we are not cursed.. Sorry, I've been watching alot of Supernatural lately.

Hmmm ... I think I've seen this movie before. Jones appears nothing more than a Fulmer 2.0. As many may remember, Fulmer was so committed to his staff that he rarely fired anybody despite their incompetence. Butch appears to be the same having retained all his cronies from Central Michigan and Cincinatti. Unfortunately for Jones, Bajakian appears to be another Dave Clausen with his predictable and totally unimaginative play calls. I still can't comprehend why Tennessee didn't try to exploit Vanderbilts secondary when ALL FOUR OF THEIR STARTERS were out of the game due to injury or expulsion. The defense with Jancek isn't any better than last year's pathetic group with Sunseri. I hope that Jones will take a hard look at this seasons lack of progress and hire some SEC proven coordinators on both sides of the ball otherwise his time here will be short.

If Jones is anywhere close to Fulmer ..or even half what he was than we are in good hands ..and I believe he is as good as Fulmer ..he needs reshaping of staff ..its big boys league ..bring on the the big boys ..I am sure Muschamp will be in Market for DC job soon..

I DO NOT want Fulmer back, but his win percentage, SEC games, one National Title trumps any arguement about any TN coach, lately, until that Coach can prove a beter record. No, I don't want Fulmer back, but he did give us many wins, happiness, etc etc, jesus, the hate is mind numbing, he needed to go, but don't trash him, until another future Coach does better,.

Well I'll talk about it. The idea as to why people are mad isn't because of their lack of understanding of where our roster is, they are mad because they see no risk taking past a bone headed fake FG attempt. I don't care if Elmer Fudd was our QB last night, the pass plays we ran where terrible. Through our offensive scheme we have eliminated play action and power sets. The few times we run a FB set it looks like we practiced it one time, leading to the FB blocking worse then a 90 year old Grandma. If you can't get 3rd and two consistently in the SEC you might as well give it up. We can't do anything behind center on offense, and it kills our redzone efficiency. If you can set up the play action then it'll open up the middle of the field to get some big plays. Until then teams are going to pack the middle and stop the run and read option, and when it's 3rd and 5-7 they are going to blitz and cause havoc. We don't make the defenses we play in any way think about our plays because we are so predictable.

u notice no responded to ur post thats because they only want to make excuses.. this staff cant win 6 games no one was talking sec cg they just say that to defer the truth.. vandy guys u/dont hire/a coach to lose to vandy.. franklin won 6 his first year n u telling me he had more talent than us..

no excuses for sat he freaked it.. face it hart screwed us but keep blindly supporting them n hart will continue to screw u..

Just imagine what Arkansas is going through. We think we've got it bad lol. They had the money in the bank with Petrino, but he couldn't keep it in his pants lol.

All of the people calling for Phil's head forget that the 2005 team grossly underachieved, and when 3/4 of the fanbase was calling for his head in 2008 he was one year removed from the SEC championship and playing a very tough game against the eventual national champion LSU team. The 2008 team was KILLED by the Clawfense IMO which was ultimately Phil's demise but I'm sorry Kiffin played everyone the fool by talking about how depleted the roster was when he took over. He couldn't have been more dishonest, there were plenty of talented players on the team. Not to mention the players that were seriously considering Tennessee prior to Phil getting the boot.

That's my rant, I'm very supportive of Coach Fulmer. It kills me the way people bash him sometimes after the success that he had here. That being said, I don't control the hiring/firing obviously and I'm happy with Butch.

You gotta admit though. The fact that its 2013 and we are still debating about him says something about the decision to fire him.

Terrible post on many levels...

1. Fulmer is a HOF coach who had a few bad years towards the end if his run and had a steady decline in recruiting over a 5-6 year period.....none of the coaches since Fulmer so far could hold his jockstrap....

2. Our defense is 50% better than last year..... Look at all the turnovers!! Those count too.... If that call wasn't overturned, Vandy would hv scored 7 points only...

3. Our offense lacks variety bc of the Qback.... It's just that simple.... Dobbs has lost all his confidence in throwing the ball, and prob was the 4th string guy..... How many teams really tear it up with their 4th string Qback who's a True Frosh???

4. The refs screwed us up really good in this game.... The block in the back against Pig took away a TD... Stupid call bc the guy was turning so it was also blocking his side..... Very Ticky tacky as he had no chance with a blocker there to get in the play....

5. Our talent level has gone to the cellar..... Worst talent at TN in about 30 years, maybe more.... Dooley was just trying to build up one good team, which he might've had this year is everyone stayed and didn't get in trouble...... No depth, almost like he didn't plan for the future....Butch is recruiting his azz off, and that's really all we need right now to be honest, is a whole new team....

CBJ will bring us back..... May take him 3-4 years to get to be a good team again, which is an entire cycle of new players...

Yeah, those excuses might would work, but our Talent level blows Vandy out of the water. Don't forget their best pass rusher didn't play and there starting safety (i think) didn't play half the game. Keep making excuses...

Jones has been successful with this staff at every stop. This is year 1 with Dooley's players; we won't know if Jones will succeed here or not until at minimum next year

However, Jancek's résumé screams failure. He washed out on a good talented team, player wise. He has little talent here and is expected to build a tough defense?? No thanks.

I agree Butch should have brought the core of offensive coaches cause that is his background. However, he shouldn't have brought one defensive coach.

No this is Fulmer 2.0 or actually an extension. If he'd never been fired it would still be him clapping on the sidelines Saturday instead of Butch and we'd still be losing and in the EXACT same situation!

I nominate this for the most ignorant post of the year.

I'm just tired of hearing excuses every yr.

Agree.. think about this... I think everyone can agree that Dooley was the worse coach in UT history right? But he never lost 8 games, jones just might. And if he does, fire him on the spot.. also wonder what excuses will be made for him if they do lose 8
