Fulmer 2.0

Agree.. think about this... I think everyone can agree that Dooley was the worse coach in UT history right? But he never lost 8 games, jones just might. And if he does, fire him on the spot.. also wonder what excuses will be made for him if they do lose 8

Fire him on the spot.... SMDH.

How dare HE surround himself with talented assistants.

Yeah, just as Majors did! But it was Majors that built the program.... Anyway I thought Sanders got the wring end of the deal and always felt Fulmer held him back but let him take the blame for his ineptitude!

Hmmm ... I think I've seen this movie before. Jones appears nothing more than a Fulmer 2.0. As many may remember, Fulmer was so committed to his staff that he rarely fired anybody despite their incompetence. Butch appears to be the same having retained all his cronies from Central Michigan and Cincinatti. Unfortunately for Jones, Bajakian appears to be another Dave Clausen with his predictable and totally unimaginative play calls. I still can't comprehend why Tennessee didn't try to exploit Vanderbilts secondary when ALL FOUR OF THEIR STARTERS were out of the game due to injury or expulsion. The defense with Jancek isn't any better than last year's pathetic group with Sunseri. I hope that Jones will take a hard look at this seasons lack of progress and hire some SEC proven coordinators on both sides of the ball otherwise his time here will be short.

Despite his later years coach fulmer was a hell of a coach man. It was because of the consistency he had on his staff. 2007 was his last decent year when the team got into the SEC championship. so if butch is being compared to fulmer than we are in for some great years, but to be honest an with all due respect to my man Phil. I believe butch may have an edge.

If he was to make staff changes, it would result in lost recruits and more instability. He is smart. Why would he change his staff the other years with all the success he had.

so he will be winning a national championship for us? Awesome!!!

Well I'll talk about it. The idea as to why people are mad isn't because of their lack of understanding of where our roster is, they are mad because they see no risk taking past a bone headed fake FG attempt. I don't care if Elmer Fudd was our QB last night, the pass plays we ran where terrible. Through our offensive scheme we have eliminated play action and power sets. The few times we run a FB set it looks like we practiced it one time, leading to the FB blocking worse then a 90 year old Grandma. If you can't get 3rd and two consistently in the SEC you might as well give it up. We can't do anything behind center on offense, and it kills our redzone efficiency. If you can set up the play action then it'll open up the middle of the field to get some big plays. Until then teams are going to pack the middle and stop the run and read option, and when it's 3rd and 5-7 they are going to blitz and cause havoc. We don't make the defenses we play in any way think about our plays because we are so predictable.

I cannot argue with your assessment, though I am not calling for a shake-up of our staff. If the staff will continue to innovate and grow, that would be cool, and if they should get a couple or 3 new play-makers to work with, so much the better.

Jones hands are tied, UT has no money and the admin is incompetent.....that about sums it up

Well, I think Foolmer, Pearl and the one before him are all paid off now so that should alleviate some money!

And what would have been opened up by no longer having to pay them would then be spent on CBJ. Therefore, the athletic department would still be in no better position than it was a year ago from a financial standpoint.

Very well said. Butch needs to shake up his staff a little. He needs new coordinators for sure, a new WR coach, and he needs somebody who can coach special teams, because we sure don't have anybody who can. Also, he needs to take a hard look at this offense he is trying to run and add more two back sets and a downfield passing game with some play action. This crap he has run this year is garbage.

Clueless.
