The only the thing delusional is firing a FIRST ballot Hall of Famer in mid-season. Crazy. But, you reap what you sow.
And some wonder why we couldnt get a big name coach. When your peers think you're good and you get canned mid season it tends to run off the proven coaches. Mike Hamilton - the syphilis of UT
And improved and made it a consistent winner.

The team was rewarded with a HOF coach that brought them a championship. But at least you met me halfway. lol

Yeah, but then again....... Paterno ACTUALLY built up Penn State. Fulmer walked into an already affluent program!
Since he is in the HOF, maybe you feel you don't have to acknowledge the fact that he got a loaded program and then left in fractions of how he got it, right? Maybe now you think we shouldn't have fired him because he was elected to the college HOF, right?
Rewarded??? LOL
Why doesn't anyone want to hire him if he is so great ?
I certaintly don't expect any informed answers, but at least give it the ole college try.
Wins are wins. And both coaches are QUITE comparable in both areas I layed out. Fulmer clearly elevated UT to a new level. We had not won a national title in 47 years. When was UT even in the title picture before Fulmer? When was Major's ever close at UT? Fulmer had at least 4 teams in the hunt. Every coach does not accomplish that. We certainly were not dominating when Fulmer took over. Indeed, our best recent teams had Fulmer either as OC or HC. To try to take anything away from "our" coach is blasphemous to me. Feel free to do it yourself though. Good thing the record books and the Hall of Fame dont feel like some of our "fans" do.
You can honestly say that the program is better off since the dismissal of CPF?
With what we've been dealt, you can honestly say we're better off without him?
Sometimes you have to take two steps backwards before you can take one step forward.
Yes, he should have been fired regardless of what has happened since then. Whether you like it or not, that's not a reasonable argument for keeping him. He took the program into the ditch. Why can't you acknowledge that fact? Why can't you acknowledge the fact that he left the program in fractions of how he got it? That's not up for debate either, it's fact.

Quite the exaggeration. 1998 and 2001. Majors was as close in 1989 as Fulmer was in 2001. Name the two other national championships we were in the hunt for? This delusional phase is catching on with you University of Fulmer fans...LOL. Fulmer had three teams finish in the top five and Majors had two.
Not for sure what you're stating here, but we were for sure LOADED when Fulmer got the program. We had just won 3 SEC titles the past five years. He couldn't have walked into a better situation.
I am glad Fulmer was our coach, but I am not going to put him up on a coaching pedestal for which he isn't worthy. He's in the HOF and that's great, he deserves it.
At least one of you please answer why he left the program in fractions of how he got it. For some reason, none of you seem to want to acknowledge that fact.
