That will not happen, the stadium is called Neyland not Fulmer therefore the General will always have his statue gracing the stadium that is named after him.

ABSOLUTELY, Hey GMAN, After 9300 + posts we finally agree on something. CPF has a street named after him. That's deserving and fitting. Theres got to be a statue of Pat Summitt erected somewhere.

so you've NEVER interviewed for a job and told them "no"???

Because if you havent, then you must be 15 yrs old. I know I've interviewed and it wasnt what I wanted. Some salary, some the hours, etc.... But I said no, not the employer. They in turn hired another person.

If your only so called proof is they hired someone else then you fail in logic.

Well, no I haven't. If you are interviewing that often and saying no to jobs they must be at Lowe's or McDonalds. Don't make dumbass statements about someones age. Comes off as childish. When going through the recruiting nightmare that is graduating with my second Engineering degree, I had several run of the mill interviews and got one offer. Since then, I have had a total of 3 targeted interviews that netted the jobs that I wanted. So no, I haven't said no to a job offer.

Your assertion that CPF is saying no to teams is PURELY an assertion made by someone that is trying his best to disprove fact presented that is contrary to what you WANT to believe. The fact is, he has shown interest in several jobs. The information that is KNOWN is that none of these schools expressed interest in him. This is no reflection on CPF as UTs coach or as an HOF inductee. It is an indictment on his perceived coaching ability that no other school has made public any offer to CPF. Please show ANY link that you have that would indicate otherwise so that I may be the first to eat crow. Otherwise, please don't insult me with your petty insults about my age or my work history.

Edit: I actually did turn down 2 plant visits (what hiring interviews used to be called) after I had my original job offer in W. Palm Bch......just remembered that.

I Do not pretend to know everything about this situation.. but hasn't ESPN themselves reported about jobs CPF has turned down? Not here lately, but directly after he was let go I remember seeing reports of schools interested in him and he turned them down stating he wouldn't be able to put his heart into the job and therefor it wouldn't have been fair to take the job?

IDK.. but it just seems to me that it would be pretty dumb to not take a coach with a NC ring and his reputation for recruiting... just sayin

I understand some around here have some kind of vendetta against him but lets use some sort of logic.

There is no evidence to be found where Phil said no, Phil has expressed interest in several coaching jobs last year and in Arkansas, no shred of evidence that Phil made it to the point where he even could have said no during the interview process.

I have not saw a video or written report showing where CPF has turned down a coaching position from any university

He interviewed for the Louisville job early on but they went a different direction.

There has been "reports" about vacancies. that CPF being interested in. From what I have read he considered strongly at AR.

I think one of the big things that hurt CPF was in a interview he stated :
It will be more like me interviewing the university. instead of the university. interviewing me

He has a few good years left in him, I wish someone would give him a chance to prove he is better than his last 4 years of coaching.

There have been numerous HC vacancies since 2009 at major BCS schools, no school has listed Phil as their #1 target because he is not a sought after coach. I'm glad Phil was here during the 90's and early 2000's but Phil is not a wanted coach like some in this thread make him out to be.

Yes he had a great run here and his record will hold up for years to come but the truth of the matter is he is not on any schools radar. People need to stop making excuses that Phil is this great coach that has turned down schools, there is zero evidence to support this theory. Then you have those who say its because of his age, Phil turns 62 this coming September. Steve Spurrier is turning 67 this year, Tommy Tuberville is 57, Nick Saban turns 61 this year, Les Miles turns 59 this year and all of these coaches are more in demand than Phil and all are around the same age so please stop with the age excuses.

Other than rampant speculation and other forms of guessery, no one knows either way whether CPF has turned down jobs or has been turned down for jobs. Pontificating as if you know one way or the other makes you look as if you are trying a bit to hard to prove your "case". Give it a rest. Fulmer is a SEC and National champion; and a HoF coach, what else does he need? -- Spurrier in high demand, not. Tuberville was in such high demand his school sent a plane in the middle of the night to court Harley Boy (who was busy courting himself most likely). Then he landed on his feet at, gulp, Texas Tech. You know, the football juggernaut replete with conference titles :) . Les Miles is hardly being asked to interview for jobs, sans Michigan a few years ago. Everybody would take Saban without a doubt. So, you have NO point as usual, and are just trying to take another shot at CPF. Go figure.

Furthermore, there was never an age excuse with Fulmer. There was a question of if he needed to prove anything else at his age (and with all of his career accomplishments, he doesn't), but never an actual age excuse. That was a fabrication of the FulmerHater's because they thought it was one that they could easily rebut it (wrong again). Go figure. Indeed, there is not much left for Fulmer to do as a head coach. Time to enjoy 'retirement'. Much as it is for some of 'us' on this site.

fulmer should take a job at a mid-tier school for some easy money (at least $1.5 mil / year) to supplement all the UT money he's getting.

Because CPF should have refused the extension. After all, what has he done for U.T.? Except the NC and the second winningest coach in U.T. history.

Edit: No one knows this fact and I don't think ANYONE has said he was turned down or turned down an offer. The speculation here is that he hasn't even been offered.

What you say is true to a point Pimp, however, there are documented items that show CPF "interested" in vacancies but none that I can find that even hint that he was offered and turned it down. That is the rub. The posters with man-love for CPF are trying to convince those of us who "like" and respect CPF that he is in demand in the coaching arena. NO ONE has shown a shred of evidence that the coaching arean is interested in him. One thought that I have seen hinted at here is that CPF himself may be taking his name out of the hat indirectly by letting it be known that while he is interested, there are a lot of conditions that have to be met. When the schools see the conditions, they lose interest. This is speculation on my part, probably smart on CPF's part, and could be an explanation as to why schools (like Ar) show some interest and then seem to back away.

Spurrier would be hired by a major university very quickly. He has build the SC program to the point they are relevant for the first time since they joined the SEC.
Like or hate Spurrier, he is showing he still can coach and has the desire to succeed.

Why would Les Miles be mentioned for any vacancy? He is the HC of one if the elite teams in the country. Miles did not have to build LSU , Saban did that but Les has turned LSU into the powerhouse it is today.
Most universities would consider hiring Miles as a homerun hire.

I have never understood the love for Tuberville, but his name seems to always be one that is mentioned.

Make fun of the coaches I listed and their ability all you want, they are head coaches at this time and Phil is not. As far as your Tuberville jab, Texas Tech has been relevant, Kansas the school Phil sought to be the HC cannot say that.

The problem is you and some others are under the belief that Phil throws his name in the hat only to find reason to decline the opportunity. If this is happening Phil is an idiot or you guys need to accept that Phil is just not sought after.
