Are you talking about the ad that was published in the paper on November 9th, 2007?

September 1st UCLA we loss 27-24 no Fulmer firing talk
September 13th UAB we won 35-3 no Fulmer firing talk
September 20th Florida we loss 30-6 no Fulmer firing talk
September 27th Auburn we loss 14-12 no Fulmer firing talk
October 4th N. Illinois we won 13-9 people are concerned
October 11th Georgia we loss 14-26 more disgruntled fans
October 18th Miss St we won 34-3 people feel better but are concerned
October 25th Alabama we loss 29-9 fans are expressing more dislike for Phil and the rumor of replacing Phil grows stronger
November 1st SC we loss 27-6 and fans are expressing time for a change
November 3rd news leaks out that the university and Phil have agreed to part ways at the end of the season and Phil holds a press conference
November 8th Wyoming we loss 13-7
November 22nd Vandy we won 20-10
November 29th KY we won 28-10

Can you honestly say that the donors weren't starting to twist Hamilton's arm after the Florida game, or at least the Bama game? Wow. And by the way, if the rumor "grew stronger" after the Bama game, then that means it had started earlier, which means there were more than some "disgruntled fans" in those weeks that you said.

2005 - 5-7 Randy Sanders last year as OC
2006 - 9-4 Cutcliffe returned
2007 - 10-4 Cutcliffe final year
2008 - 5-7 No Cutcliffe

Spin it however you want to but, Cutcliffe return gave Phil more time. I would have hated to see the 06 and 07 season without Cut being back.

2003 and 2004. Win totals? Offensive co-ordinator? Exactly. Spin it how you like.

seems you may have a comprehension problem too
I asked a question and you didn't answer it, and it's a pretty simple one that most elementary school students could understand

In 2007 we went 10-4 this is a record that many University of Fulmer fans like to tout. In reality that year was more of a failure when you consider we got killed at Cal 31 to 45, Florida came to town and slapped us silly to the tune of 59-20. We win the next 3 games with an impressive win against 12th ranked Georgia 35-14, we entered the week of Bama ranked 20th, unranked Bama (Sabans 1st year) spanks us 41-17.

Don't you find it strange that the ad placed in the paper on November 9th 2007 if there were not already heat on Phil in 2007 because of people questioning our inability to win against our rival Florida and under performing in other games? Not to mention lack of disclipine on the team and all the arrests and off the field incidents during his tenure on the hill?

I'm sorry but there was no question in your post. A question is followed by a question mark which is the "?" on your keyboard.. No wonder America is in trouble look how our youth are being educated.

we lost to Memphis in '96, and still went to the National Championship in '98

So you think we'll be in title game in 2013?

are you going to answer, or keep avoiding the question

if Dooley does pan out, UT very much needs to get a guaranteed winner.

if dooley gets fired and after the kiffin disaster, UT will probably look to hire a top assistant like uf did with muschamp, since the "experienced" head coach model hasn't worked.

See when you add a question mark it's much easier to discern what is a question and what is useless banter. As for the "question" no I don't think we will? Where did I hint at that being the case? Once again, read before posting.

exactly, that's why the Ky loss was worse than the Memphis loss

the program's in a much tougher spot than '96

Dooley had a chance to end on a high note and failed

Exactly. The '96 Memphis loss sucked. The Vandy loss sucked. The 2001 LSU loss in the SECCG sucked. Those teams were not as fragile as last year. Look at the fallout from the KY loss, that is all. The 2001 LSU and '96 Memphis hurt more in their respective seasons, but as far as hurting the state of the program, this years KY game was far worse due to the fact that we played such a bad KY team, and could have finished on a high note after a murderers row schedule and an injury depleted lineup.

It's his fault he only ever won ONE "major" bowl game with some of UT's best teams ever. You act like the guy is untouchable, but his loss to Memphis is worse than any loss you can think of that Dooley has had.

Amen brother....that IS the worst loss in TN history IMO....Peyton at qb and a roster packed with NFL talent losing to Memphis? WTF? He lost to Vandy at home and came within a foot of losing to them again the next time they played in Neyland. He had a good run but he did have some issues.

I see where you're coming from, but even so there is no way that the KY loss was worse than the '96 Memphis debacle. Look at the roster and telle that the 2nd team shouldn't have beaten them by 17 points.

I never mentioned anything about 2007. I was referring to your detailed chronology of the 2008 season where you said nothing was being said until the Bama game where the rumors were "getting stronger" but you also said no one was talking bad before then. Which is it? By the way, Florida didn't come to town in 2007.

Wrong again Gman
The talk of the Fulmer firing was in full motion well before the Wyoming game. What do you think inspired all the former players to take out a full page newspaper ad begging the fans to stay the course?

Wyoming game was in 2008, you followed it up the inspirational full page newspaper ad. Sounds like you were thinking the ad came out in 2008 to me.

The place of where the game was played was wrong, my bad, but the score was still the same. I brought it up to you because it seemed that you were saying the ad was taken out in 2008 which I do not recall happening but do remember the 07 ad. As far as the rumors remarks go, I was wanting to see your response.

no one saying he was untouchable, clearly he wasn't
it's the fact we haven't gotten a better coach yet

ok Gman, maybe I'm wrong on the date but it further proves the point that the fire Fulmer crowd was around long before the final season. In my circles it started after the 2001 choke job in Atlanta to LSU.
Since you describe the 2007 10-4 team as a failure what word would you use to describe the last 4 seasons?

I'm sorry but that just isn't true. If you honestly believe that then I have nothing left to say to you.

As I have stated before in this thread, I heard after the FL loss that he would be gone at season's end or possibly before. This was from a major donor group here in K'ville.

I can agree with you on the date of 2001, it was the tell tell signs of lots of things such as lack of disclipine on the team, players getting in trouble, never playing to their full potential etc etc.

Since you asked about the last 4 seasons here is my take on it.

I associate it much like it was when Battle ran the program into the ground and Majors came in to fix it. The first 4 years after Battle were brutal and the SEC was not as strong back then as it is today. These past 4 seasons have been brutal but it had to be done, it was past time for a change. I hope DD can turn it around this year but if not, time for another change. I do think the Kiffin departure and his only recruiting class set us back another 2 years but thats just my opinion.
