One season man. Richt won two SEC Championships while Fulmer was at Tenn.

You have to look at what they did when they were coaching at the same time. What Fulmer did against the coaches in the 90s was great, but isn't relevant to coaching in today's SEC.

We don't have the leverage here. Gonna have to find someone that can coach and is willing to take on a rebuilding job against those coaches.

wel guess it's going to be a while then before we get back on top. Remember it was 31 YEARS in between the NC Fulmer won and Dickeys in 67'. It might be a long time before we see a NC again.

you're not making any sense now. Why would I root for Urban? Admitting that he won more championships than Fulmer did in less than half the time doesn't mean I'm now following him around

I am a fan of UT. That doesn't change based on who the coach happens to be

I get that but I still feel like it's a guy we should throw the money at and see if he bites. He's the most realistic big-time college coach out there

I agree 100% if Hart didn't I would be upset. I want the best coach we can get. Deep down I'm still hoping for Gruden. But, if none of them come we need to look at the numbers and choose the best coach. Fulmers name should be in there. Run his number against everyone. If there are better coaches get them if not Hart needs to stop and think about it. If we hire another experiment and fall some more it's going to be bad. Fans are getting frustrated and I don't blame them. We need a home run hire and at least some stability.

Well, Michigan won the NC in 1948 and then in 1997, so 49 years between titles for them. And I think Dickey's title wasn't really recognized, not consensus anyway, as only one poll voted it and that was before the bowl games.

He might be "special" in the eyes of some, but they are a distinct minority. He had his (brief, in terms of quality) day in the sun and now he is history.

People whose opinions matter more than yours, ie the HOF voters, say otherwise regarding how special he is.

Who out there is better than Saban?

I've advocated throwing all the Gruden money at Saban, and I was shot down hard.

If you compare Stoops and Fulmer, I think Fulmer would have done everything at OK that Stoops has done over the same time. Stoops is starting to catch flak about not winning the big one again. He's accused of doing less with more too.

The fact is when Fulmer had a QB performing, he could compete with anyone.

Not really, just off the top of my head without checking any records, and from memory, I think Doug Dickey is in the HOF and he certainly doesn't seem to be special. There are probably several others. So, winning a NC and two SEC titles in 16+ years certainly would make PF special........for those who worship his memory.

Fulmer whether you agree with it or even like it. He had a HOF career here at UT. He was from Tennessee, played for UT, then came back and gave us a NC the 1st one since 51'. Not going into all his awards his recruiting and the players he brought us. Peyton alone everyone's hero, ask him how he feels about Fulmer. Go ask Al Wilson.

I love how you describe a HOF career day in the sun and brief in terms of quality. Ask our next coach our any coach for that matter about the HOF. That's a coaches dream that most will FAIL.

Show some respect and show some class.

Fulmer used to be good---but, he stopped recruiting and started losing a bunch of games---it was time for him to go--he got millions on the way out.

Funny thing is Eric Ainge Sports Talk radio show host. You know the Eric Aninge Show ask him about why we lost the 2007 SECCG. Remember we lost by 1 TD and Anige threw 2 int. in the 4rt QTR. That's all Fulmers fault right.
