Fulmer debate extravaganza (merged)

That's fine. However, you all have NO response to the argument I just made. Because it is true, and you all just feel the need to piss on his legacy in order to make you feel better about whatever **** life you live.

You make a lot of arguments concerning PF, all of which are hollow, based on hero-worship maybe. You choose a five year period in the 90s where the record was 45-5 and act if that is emblematic of Fulmer's career. It isn't and his latter career is more checkered, not even matching UT's all-time record, and that is over almost a decade. Worry about your own life before commenting on someone else. Pathetic!

Find a decade where a coach not named Neyland or Fulmer that was better than the 2000s. I dare you. Then find one that matched the 90s. You won't.

My life is fine. I'm at peace and happy with where my life is so I don't have drag someone who obviously has a lot of success through the mud with me.

And you choose to cut and paste to suit your own opinion. I support CBJ, but everytime you say to move own, there is always that little personal jab isn't there?

Pathetic!!

fulmer had a good run in the 90s, early 2000s but couldn't beat fla when it mattered except two times: 98 and 01, and in 01 he choked away a chance to win the national title by losing to saban / lsu in the sec title game.

fyp, but other than that I agree.

Maybe because Majors hadn't gone a decade without a conference title? Just a thought.

He also didn't have to play a title game, Florida was garbage at the time, same as LSU, and then proceeded to lose 7 straight to Bama, something Fulmer never did. I'll take the 10-5 vs Bama, thank you.

Check your numbers. From 01 to 08 he was within one win over that time period of being on the historical average. He was well above the historical average of conference wins. His last 8 years or so were what we normally are. A lot of fans just don't take the time to look at the numbers. Will be glad to send you my spreadsheet. However, your assertions are correct. The trend lines below are why he was fired.

Yet, again, you keep saying destruction. How about you actually go look at the records of UT from the 60s on. You'll see that everything he did in the 2000s is pretty much what happened in the history.

We won 2 conference titles in the '60s, 2 in the '80s, 3 in the '90s...guess how many in the 2000s?

Majors went 5-6 in 1988. He had won an outright conference title in 1985. If we want to judge Fulmer by the same standard of regular-season titles, he went 5-6 in 2005 and 5-7 in 2008 and his last regular-season title was in 2001.

Also, LSU won the SEC in 1986 and 1988, so I'm not sure what you're talking about. They were better in the '80s than they were in the '90s.

One thing you forget about 1985, that Florida actually won the conference and defeated Tennessee. Florida was placed on probation from the Bell era and was not allowed the championship and Tennessee was crowned.

Fulmer's last 4 years: 29-21, including 5-6 and 5-7 records. That's why he was fired.

I wish I didn't have to remind everyone of this.

Without Hambone classlessness, 2008 is a mediocre 7 - 6 year. In other words - the best year we've had three coaches later.

So much fail in this thread. So much fail.

And if Butch can't pull a Top Ten class this time, the likelihood of this thread closing before 2020 is unlikely.

I wonder if everyone realizes this is a never ending loop. There are about 4 opinions that have been repeated hundreds of times in this thread. Just agree with me and move on. lol
