Fulmer Debate II

Thank goodness we've moved on from those horrid days.

Yes, I agree. We no longer have football players arrested in bunches, citizens are no longer hiding behind locked doors of their homes fearing Foolmer's Gangsters are running about and the Good Ole Boys Club no longer keeps 'The Warden' in power. Crime sprees are over!

You're not gonna do it are you Lookin? Please say that you think Lane Kiffin, Charlie Weis, Tuberville, Orgeron, and Derek Dooley are better coaches than CPF. They all have jobs and your claim to fame is that Fill doesnt. So please, you seem like such an all football knowing guy, why dont you admit that all of these coaches are better. Once you do, the debate will be essentially over. You certainly can't prove it by their records, but you're so football savvy, if you will admit it, I will feel much better. Come on. Back up your BS.

Waiting on you Lookin,

I don't think a whole lot of that bunch you have listed but there is one telling clue. They can get jobs anytime, anywhere. No one would touch Fill with a ten foot pole. I think Phil's track record here gave anyone remotely interested in him an immense fear of getting turned into Outlaw U.

A hard nosed and disciplined football team that fights to the end is one attribute that all athletic directors want. Of course, discipline and Fulmer do not belong in the same sentence. Another negative he could not overcome in a coaching stint elsewhere.

Again, thank goodness those days are behind us and no football player has gotten into any trouble since that crazy Fulmer was fired. We're all pure now.:)

So, you're saying that since CPF is gone there have been no players getting into trouble. I'm glad that someone is hiring a bunch of useless coaches. Must be hard to come up with all this drivel.

Nu'Keese..what's in your wallet....Richardson.

Well its out there somewhere. Shortly after his dismissal, he made it know if the "right" HC position became available, he would like to be considered. In his mind, he was not finished.

Maybe someone will post that report.

He made that statement several times. I instantly took it as meaning an already successful program that lost a coach-needed one to come in and slowly drain it as the right situation.

....and some of us think he said, "you know, I have played, and coached for this University for 3 decades and am absolutely disgusted with the lousy attitudes of an ungrateful AD and fanbase so I'll take my National Championship, my SEC Championships and my buyout and go to the house and watch'em squirm over it for years to come.":salute:

I agree. Cut's coaching ability is without question. A coaching staff is a dynamic entity and the loss of any one member can upset the proverbial apple cart. For better or worse, the ship could not be righted quickly enough to satisfy the powers that be, fans and AD alike. Coach Fulmer failed to find the right "coach" to replace Cutcliffe and that hurt him.

Without Cutcliffe, Fulmer's reign as head coach would've been about as long and memorable as Dooley's.

If I was him I would have said it to! But, then again, If I was him, I don't think I would have thought I was the only reason the program reached those highs!

Who's squirming?

Had Fulmer stayed on we would have continued to get worse. Meanwhile he would have been content to throw out some workin like heck quotes while he slowly moved to pass Neyland's win total.

Oh, about half of the 1096 posts in this thread tell me quite a few are, if memory serves that would equal about 548. Most importantly, I absolutely disagree with your opinion but to each his own and it makes no difference at this point anyway. Regardless, here is to better days ahead.:toast:

He would not have gotten us back to the top. If he had stayed we may have been a game or two better than where we are now but not where we were. I think he was wanting Neylands record but it would have taken twice as long to reach it.

No, his shadow was hidden in the glare of his National Championship ring.
