No but you can't guarantee he'll turn it around either. You say history, yeah he never had back to back down years but he was starting a trend of every 2-3 years it was bad and that certainly bucked his previous history where he never had a "down" year.
That's where we differ; I think it would be a huge mistake to go backwards, and I saw the trend that Fulmer was going to keep going down. Would he have been better than Dooley? Yes, but I still think he would still be gone by now anyway had we not canned him in 2008. People are knee jerking a bit because Dooley has been such a disaster, but Fulmer would have been judged in a different circumstance.
Nice post. I'm not arguing anything. It's just hard for me to to think Fulmer woulda let all hell break loose. To many people it sounds like 08 was only a start for back to back to back losing seasons. In 16/17 years he fudged up on one hire and it cost him his job. I just don't see how we could have been this bad with him 4 years later. I mean in the last 4 years we have what, 23 wins? That's not even 6 average. You think Fulmer would have averaged 6 wins or less since 08. It may just be me but he never got that "sh!t is about to hit the fan, start working on a solution" talk from Hamilton. Instead it was here's the pink slip. I for one wish he wouldn't have been fired. In 08, that is. I truly believe he should have gotten 09 to be his fate decider. Not because of KIFFIN, but because he had a lot invested in the school and so did we. He should have gotten 09 to be his UT Career season.
