Fulmer is still the best name.

And you want an East Carolina quality coach to be our next head man?

That's not the point. Everyone acts like he couldn't land a gig anywhere and made it sound like he was so desperate. In fact, he isn't desperate. Would rather do it if both parties felt cool about. If he comes back, so be it. I feel that he would do well here IMO.

Get paid 6 million dollars to chill at home with the family or travel with them.

Get paid the difference between 6 million dollars and a salary for coaching while I work 80-100 hrs a week and coach.

Hmmmmm:question:

Not a hard decision for me at least. When the payments stop, I would look for Fulmer to be coaching somewhere. If I am going to work, I want paid for it.

When you are begging for Kentucky's attention, you are desperate. I don't think that's difficult to figure out.

You're suggesting that he's telling people he's not interested.

In reality, he's openly campaigning for jobs in newspapers across the country.

Why?

I always find it funny when people talk like they are in the meeting with these people and witnessed said "begging". "I saw it with my own two eyes"!!:eek:lol:

Well, seeing as his UT buyout payments end next month.....it's about time to look for work. I would also point out, newspapers and the media are not always accurate. Gruden has been hired 11 times already this week.

Exactly. If there was ever a time for him to actually want to get back in the grind to coach, now would be it. That's why I don't buy him pushing and begging for these jobs over the years. I see it as if the right situation presented itself, he would forgoe chilling at home and get back into coaching.

Phillip Fulmer on sportstalk says 'certainly I'd coach again' with right opportunity and is in great shape. Wouldn't take dead end job

I hope not here, I like him but the fans would go crazy.

And this isn't the right situation. The risk of bringing him back is way too great, from both a football angle and the PR angle.

I'm in PR. From that standpoint, him coming would make a storybook ending. Imagine if he came for 3 years and had to name a coach in waiting to take over in year 4. He has three seasons to break Neylands Record and then turns it over. I really believe there is a new Phil if given the chance.

I also believe that in any sport teams push each other to get better. I think the the rest of the league finally caught up to Fulmer (exception of Spurrier that guy just had CPF number). But I believe Fulmer would have bounced back fine.

0-4 against Meyer
5-9 against Spurrier (3-7 at Florida)
1-2 against Miles
1-4 against Saban (0-2 at Alabama)

= 7-19 against SEC coaches worth a damn. And he "would have bounced back" why?

All you have to do is read any interview with Fulmer discussing a college job since 2009. Anyone who can read can see it with their own two eyes; it's readily available.

So, you're suggesting that direct quotes from Fulmer are invented by the media to make him look bad?

Fulmer saying "I would be interested in coaching IF the right job presented itself" in no ways shows him BEGGING for every open job there is. You make it sound as though he has not coached since leaving UT because noone wanted him. I would think it is because a top 10 school looking for a new coach has not called or decided to go another route. I have no doubt if Fulmer tried to get a job at a Pitt, ASU, or something like that he would have. He wants to coach a contender or not at all. It's not hard to understand.

Now you're catching on.

How about USF?

I'm not saying what you say isn't true, but could you put links up for your claims or which newspaper did you see these ads in. Also how long have the ads been running?

Now I do believe Fulmer to be a bad hire for any school other than UT. I only say that though because CPF bleeds orange. The man has given his heart and soul to UT and everyone knows that. Our team has not seen any success since his departure and every time we need a coach his name does show up on most list. Given that who thinks that if CPF was offered the job that he would turn it down? I think majority of people would say "there is no way that he would ever turn down a chance to coach at UT again".

Now if Tennessee had seen success and had a solid HC I think that would change things. Just like the economy people are holding there money until they see some stability. I believe other schools a holding off on Fulmer until there is stability at UT and it is no longer a worry that they could lose their head coach. Remember Kiffen got his dream job and left after a year.

Where did it say Fulmer had asked for the head coaching job at USF? Maybe I missed it. I saw it as he MAY be interested and thought it MAY be a good opportunity. I think your trying to hard to see something that is not there. If that is your "proof", you failed.

Oh dear God. If you think that's anything other than campaigning for a job, you have serious reading comprehension issues. He wanted their job, had Sexton contact them through back channels, and got rejected. Even your buddy JMS thinks you're being obtuse on this one.

If you need Fulmer to come out in public and say "I want this job, please hire me," for it to count as "proof," our fans are even dumber than I thought.

No I'm not. All I'm saying is that USF was the one exception. If he was gonna go campaign and push for a job at a small school, USF would be it. Did he? Who knows. He commented on it.

Also, have you ever asked yourself how that interview and questions came about? It was because after he was fired, he and Vicki would take trips to the St. Pete area. What happened to be going on down there at that time?

I'll listen to what ya have to say.

Your taking a statement and trying to turn it into what you want it to mean. That's not how it works. How many articles, and media outlets already have Jon Gruden here at UT? Exactly my point. You did not even show a quote where a media outlet said Fulmer tried to get the job. You quoted Fulmer saying it MAY be an opportunity he would consider. Your claims of "He had sexton contact USF through back channels" is just you making stuff up. You have zero to support it. Making it up in your mind, does not make it true.

Ummmm no.

You bring back Fulmer, out of the gate you're pissing off half the fanbase. It's still very divided on Fulmer.

Second, right now nobody gives a crap about Neyland's record, other than maybe Phil.

So he thought of it as a small school but gave them a shot because of location. Okay. Three questions.

1. Why wasn't he hired?
2. When he said USF fit his criteria of a school committed to winning championships, was he lying? or
3. If not, why would his list of potential coaching destinations "committed to winning championships" now extend to USF/Louisville/Kentucky/Kansas/UConn?
