Fulmer is still the best name.

How'd he do against Bama with Saban?

There is always going to be coaches who do well against other coaches, but that doesn't make him a bad coach. How many other coaches has Saban beat?
Do they all suck?
Should we fire every coach that Saban beats? If so there will be a shortage of coaches quickly.

Also remember he had to deal with Hamilton and a bad coaching hire. I believe he would have bounced back though. Before you say it I will answer it for you... It is purely speculation on both sides on whether he would have succeeded or failed. There is no proof either way.

Now I not saying that I want him hired right now, but CPF should deserve more respect than what you a giving him.

The years where their d ranked 34/37/8/16?

This is how you want to discredit Spurrier? He took South Carolina to SEC relevance. Lmao!

Whether a coach is offensive or defensive minded, the head coach surrounds himself with his assistants. Ultimately it all falls on him.

The man had 2 bad years out of 13 and not even back to back years. Remember two losing seasons in 13 years and Never back to back. He may not be the best hire or maybe he is, but regardless the Tennessee fans owe the man respect. He gave his all for the university and gave a our 1st NC since 51'. If you want to judge him on his bad give him credit for his good. We were one play from winning the SEC and going to the NC game in what year? 2007.

We were't going to the NC game in 2007 in any way.

I just gave you the d for the 4 yrs you mentioned...the d has been consistently excellent..as f fulmer vs any coach, spurrier was pretty crappy against dubose and bowden when he was at UF..so what...

Hahahaha. What were their defensive rankings in the other four years?

There is no way in hell we had a chance at the national championship game at 10-3. You have completely lost your mind if you believe that.

Actually, I would say there was 1% chance of us going. You remember how effed up the BCS rankings where goin into the conference championship week. Not arguing this at all. Woulda been interesting. I know we wouldn't be went for sure, but it would have been interesting to see

Had consecutive losing seasons, 9-13, his last 2 yrs...he would never have been fired under any circumstances for taking them from futility U to nat'l relevance...but make no mistake he went out on a losing note..

he should have not been fired to start with !! you need to take a good look at the program under fulmer while your at it look at wyatt ,dickey, battle, majors ! but no this we would not be here if hamilton had not fired fulmer .respect was not given .it was handled wrong .should have been somebody in place . not kiffin either . this program is in this shape due to hamilton, kiffin and fans who expect to be undefeated every year and the sec was just as good during the nineties as it is today !!! just more media coverage.

We need someone who can build a program back, not someone who has never done that.

Fulmer had a great program handed to him. And you have to consider that Fulmer divided the fan base by his poor performance in his last 5 years.

Most of his winning took place on the front end. When the league got better we were going the other way. He had a chance to fix it and couldnt make it happen.[/QUOTE This is the s.e.c. and sometimes there are great times sometimes not so great but do not change when your still relavent ! fulmer did a good job and yes he made some mistakes as you an i and everybody else has .but you give a man a chance to correct those mistakes ! the sec was changing i know but he could have turned it around .kiffin was an idiot dooley i was hoping but the vandy loss finished that. but i give him a thumbs up for being a good man and trying as hard as hew could ! i can name a number of coaches who had upswings and down turns . but unless you totally lose the team or go to the outhouse .keep him especially with his record .!

It was 0. We may have moved up from 14th to about 10th if we were lucky, but that's a far, far cry from 2nd.

It's funny, because I don't even have to make this point to you. You've seen it yourself. USCe is good when their offense is good. Whose responsibility is that? How's Ellis Johnson doing?

Spurrier has beaten Saban at Bama. Fulmer couldn't even beat his backup QB and RB with one of the best defenses we've ever had.

You are dumber than a bag of hammers...They have been terrible half the time, slightly above average half the time, have never been ranked among the top 20 teams, and have collectively not even been at the ncaa average offensively. Any moron that looks at similar stats for the defense would conclude, "hmm...looks like their defenses sure are a lot better than their offenses"...

As for Ellis Johnson you do understand that (1) good coordinator (2) bad head coach are not mutually exclusive, correct? You know what that phrase means?

have never been ranked among the top 20 teams,

I guess you never noticed they finished 2010 at #22, 2011 at #9, and are currently ranked #12 as of today.

You're partially right. Never ranked among the top 20..........till Steve Spurrier arrived.
