Fulmer is still the best name.

If nothing else, list him as a candidate anyways.
Why so secret about who we are after anyways?
This search has been a joke, staring with the hype machine of Gruden!

Fulmer coming would be an epic fail on so many levels.

The Gruden folks need to can it and so do the Fulmer folks. Neither is happening.

So outside of Gruden, Fulmer wouldn't be better than guys that have never coached in the SEC in your mind?

no and there's a decade worth of work to back it up

Yea and we just lived 3 years of trying an up and comer experiment. You realize if we pick Strong, Fedora, Davis etc, out recruiting is done after this mess and fan base will be on pins and needles, then to top it off, we hire an unproven coach in the SEC to lead us? Aye-yie-yie

So what? Fulmer failed for a decade before they finally got rid of him. He's gone, move on

Don't be foolish, Dooley wasn't an "up and comer." He was a panicked hire by an idiot AD who should have just let Brown interim coach a year. NOBODY had Dooley on their radar at all. The rest of the coaches you mention are already tons better than Dooley ever was.

You realize if we go back to Fulmer, the fan base is probably going to be just as on pins and needles if not more? The SEC passed Fulmer by and it sure as heck hasn't gotten any easier since he left. I have way more hope in a guy like Strong than going back to Fulmer. It's not even close.

That's just it. I was definitely gonna move on for Gruden but after this debacle it only solidifies the idea for me that Fulmer shoulda never been fired so we wouldn't have to go through this mess.

You say move on, but to who are we moving on to? From Dools to Fedora? hellz no

What's done is done, and you can't put the toothpaste back in the tube. And I think Fulmer would have been fired by now anyway had he survived 2008. Nothing suggests to me that we were on our way back up. Would we have been better? Marginally probably. I don't think he would have done any better than Kiffin in 2009. We likely would have done better than Dooley but I still think it would have been subpar and people would still have been screaming for him to be fired.

What makes you think strong is leaving Louisville. BCS berth and moving to a stronger conference. It's all Fedora from here.

You forget the recruit class Fulmer had lined up b4 kiffin told them to scram. T Boyd to name just one.
I admit fuer got lazy in the later years, but you get elected to the college football hall of freakin because you can't coach.
Fulmer messed up when he hire that idiot clawson to run the offense

We'll never know, and I don't want to risk finding out.

Any hire at this point is goin to be a risk, no matter who anybody likes.
Perfect coach isn't out there.

Because UT will pay more, it's the SEC, the ACC is hardly stable at the moment, and despite the last few years, UT is still a much better job than Louisville.

It's still preferable to move forward than to pull Fulmer out of the mothballs. Yes he's a HOF coach, who's best days are clearly behind him. You're not getting 1990s Fulmer back.

Those are guesses why he would leave. Plus Jurich has always said a school would have to pay to steal Strong. You think we would pay strong as much as Gruden? Not at all meaning it will be that much easier for Louisville to keep him instead of running to rebuild a program 3 years after starting on Louisville.

Still would be on board with Fulmer, Monken, Chavis, Martin, Graham, Pittman, Joseph, Steele, Brooks, and Staley.

Affordable, Tradition, Great Recruiters, Stability, Proven Winners, and Pride In The Orange.

But you will bet on a unproven. Reminds of people who think they can make more money by investing in a new company over a proven one. Sure you just might strike it rich, but 9 out of ten times they lose their a**. Jump on the latest fade and wait for the bubble to bust!!!!

We haven't even been close to winning anything since Fulmer left. Ya he had a couple of bad years. But if you think any of the coaches everyone is bringing up will stand a chance against Saban, Myers, Miles and Spurrier well your nuts. By far your worst than anyone who thinks we should bring Fulmer back. With that being said if we don't get Gruden then we to bring Fulmer back.

I look at it like this. Dooley had this UT team close to beating UGA, USCe, and Mizzou. Had we had a capable coach VS UF, and Vandy?? Who knows. Phil Fulmer is a very capable coach. Is he better than Dooley? NO QUESTION about it. Looking back, the close loss to LSU, UNC, and several others, Fulmer would have won those games with this Tennessee team. IMO, he makes an awful lot of sense right now. Hart should at least interview him and see if Chavis would return and or who Fulmer could land for OC. Don't short change the guy. If Hart was willing to give Gruden 2.5 million for our coordinators, give Fulmer the same. I think Fulmer would take the job for 2.5 million a year on a 5-6 year deal. Chavis could return with a 350,000.00 raise and Todd Monken would be my hire from Okie State at OC at more than double his current salary. If Fulmer wants the job, I would roll with Fulmer.

People are actually wanting to hire coaches who have won 5-10 games more than they lost? Coaches who have actually lost more than they have won? Fulmer has won 100 games more than he lost!! Seriously, let's get real!!

I think you just keep the offense as is.
Heard Tee wanted back in big orange country.

That would not be a bad idea. Chaney has proven valuable in alot of ways. I do think Fulmer would have his hand in the run game a little more and not allow all the QB drama/3rd and chuck it deep on the fade routes.

Seriously, you don't accidentally win 100 more games than you lose. You don't accidentally get into the hall of fame.
Did Fulmer get lazy, sure. But I doubt he would be if be came back.
Just load his contract with ridiculous in insentives.
