Fulmer is still the best name.

Get a quality offensive coordinator & aggressive recruiting staff and the Wins will come......It would be a bold move but a good one.......

Lol! Fulmer isn't getting hired by any respectable football program.

Houston Nutt will have a head coaching gig before Fulmer.

Phil is one year younger than Saban

What does that have to do with anything? As far as football Phil is past his prime.

The last time phil had to hire a homerun he got Clawson, before that Sanders. HMMMM I see a trend here and its all downward.

1. Chavis will not come back to UT.
2. Fulmer has a very poor track record of hiring OC's and wouldn't expect that to change.
3. Trooper has Auburn in enough trouble with the NCAA.

And I'd much rather have an up and coming Strong than a past his prime Fulmer.

Were you one that thought getting rid of Fulmer was a good idea.

Just curious cause I wasn't on here when Fulmer was fired. I know the fans were divided then. I would be willing to bet the people wanting Fulmer gone are now the ones saying "he will never coach here again,he started this". I bet everyone who wanted him gone was promising everyone how much better it was going to be next year. Just like Dooley fired tread. Telling the athletes we did this for you, it's going to so much better for you.

Really you don't know. No one thinks we can get worse but maybe we don't win a single game next season.

Stop acting like you know. Excuse me if I don't follow your lead. Four years later look where we are. Excuse me for turning around but you have no clue what direction your traveling.

No home run hire, bring in Phil, get Tee as Wr coach, keep graham and Pittman. Chaney is not that bad with the # of points we scored this year. Bring in a stud DC.
Last thing we need is people that don't want to be apart of the University.

I thought he should have been fired 3 to 4 years before he was and the program kept getting worse those last 4 years. The problem was an inept AD that had no plan whatsoever. Letting Fulmer go WAS NOT the problem, having no plan was.

I know where we can get a proven SEC coach, with close ties to Tennessee, has a 152-52 record in the SEC, won a national championship, and over the course of 15 years went the SEC Championship game at least once every three years...

;)

At this point, i would looove to have Phillip Fulmer back as our head coach, and yes, im also one of those that didnt want to see him go in the first place. Coach Fulmer loves UT as much as we do. He had gotten complacent, but dont we all after a while? As successful as Chavis has been at LSU, some of you still talk about him. Its not gonna happen, but i wish it would. if it was Phulmer or Gruden, obviousely id take gruden, Phulmer vs. Fisher, Strong, Fedora or Golden, id take Phulmer and wouldnt even give it a second thought. This of course is my personal opinion.

Fulmer ould not have to hire a new OC. I have no doubt Chaney would be glad to stay on staff. Have people already forgot that we had one of the best offenses in the SEC and country this year? We struggled toward the end of Phil's time when he hired Clawson because the fans were screaming for a new age offense. Well, that offense is in place now and ready to go. Would Chavis ome back with a healthy raise? Maybe he would. Fulmer has alot of respect within the coaching community and I am sure we could find a very good upgrade at DC and staff. Hart stated in his presser what he was looking for in a coach and Fulmer checks every box IMO.

An AD that Fulmer played a role in being hired at Tennessee. He was a huge proponent of Mike Hamilton iirc.

Just about every program goes through dry spells or cycles. Do I think Fulmer would be ready to re-light the fire? I honestly do. Someone with connections needs to have Peyton have a sit down with Mr. Hart. If the rumor of Peytons donation of 15 million is accurate, he could just about finance Fulmer and staff himself for the next 3 years.

Yes I wanted him gone. Yes I still think it was the right move. The fact we had a retard in Hamilton making 2 stupid hires in a row does't change that fact.

The reason Fulmer looks so "good" now is because we've endured 3 years of Dooley, who should never have been coach in the first place (and before you ask, no I never liked that hire).

It's easy to look at the past 3 years and say "Wow, we should have never let Fulmer go" and that's foolish. Instead, you should be saying "We never should have gotten Kiffin and we sure as heck should have never gotten Dooley". I strongly believe had we not fired Fulmer in 2008 he would have been gone by now anyway. Because the natives were restless and I didn't have a lot of faith he was going to lead us back to prominence. Had he stayed and continued to be average, there's no way he'd be here today.

I won't agree he should have been fired 3-4 years before, but yes, what they did after they let Fulmer go was the problem.

Fulmer would have been judged by very different criteria had he not been let go in 2008.

Fulmer, Chaney and Chavis only way it would work if Fulmer did get his old job back.

UT is not where it once was in the national spotlight. Fans who think that any coach will take a raise and leave everything he knows behind to come to Knoxville and roll the dice is fooling himself. Up and comers are always a possibility. Proven SEC champions your not usually going to hire away from somewhere else. Would the next up and comer be an Urban Meyer or a Gene Chizik? Noone knows and there in lies the problem. Fulmer may not be the "rockstar" choice, but when your fired for 24 wins in your last 3 seasons, we could do ALOT worse. Hart said we need stability and IMO, Fulmer would be that the minute he stepped back in as HC.
