Fulmer is still the best name.

That would not be a bad idea. Chaney has proven valuable in alot of ways. I do think Fulmer would have his hand in the run game a little more and not allow all the QB drama/3rd and chuck it deep on the fade routes.

Yeah no doubt about that. 3rd and chuck it would be gone as well as 3rd and sunseri .
Man, that defense gave up many 10+,20+ yard conversion, made me wish we has 3rd and Chavis back. Lol

I think the fire in his belly would be renewed. Bring him back, with Tee, keep Chaney (proven to be a loyal vol), try to pry Chavis from LSU, Kippy, and some ace recruiters and roll with it.

It happens to all businessmen at some point, you think you have the ship rolling and it won't ever slow down so you start to slip out of the ways that got you there. I really think he would be fired up and we would rise quickly, also (j/k) might put us in better shape with the Berry Boys.

:)
Seriously, you don't accidentally win 100 more games than you lose. You don't accidentally get into the hall of fame.
Did Fulmer get lazy, sure. But I doubt he would be if be came back.
Just load his contract with ridiculous in insentives.

I doubt there would even need to be alot of incentives. I think the man would take alot of pride in returning to where he should have always been. When you hear him speak, he always says he will do anything he can to help UT. He loves Tennessee and always will. If we kept Chaney, that would give us even more money to spend on defense. I say Fulmer try and add Randy Shannon who is coaching LB's at TCU. Chavis, Shannon, Steele, Brooks, we would be very strong and the offense would not be learning a new system. It makes more sense than anything thrown out recently, at least to me anyways.

I admit I was one of the ones that got tired of Fulmer at the end, but his firing was wrong. Thank you Hambone for this entire mess.
But if Fulmer came back, with Chavis I'd be excited to see Graham as RB coach to stay.
Plus how much better AJ the beast would be.
Not familiar with OC from Ok state

Another thing to add is that Fulmer was always trying to get Hamilton to ease the "issues" Hart has mentioned about getting kids into UT. Hart has said they are fixing that. Another thing I am sure Fulmer would appreciate under new management.

HC- Fulmer 2.5 Million

DC- Chavis 1.1 million

OC- Chaney 725,000

OL- Pittman 300,000

RB- Graham 290,000

WR- Martin 290,000

LB- Shannon 325,000

DL- Brooks 300,000

ST/RC- Steele 325,000

GA- Staley(Hutchinson Connection)

Total Salary- 5.865 million per year.

(Would consider swapping Dale Jones for Steele or Shannon as a possibility).

Fulmer, Chaney, Pittman, Graham, Steele, and Staley could be recruiting TODAY to solidify this class.

The irony is Fulmer is getting inducted in to the college football hall of fame all the while we have no coach.

Wow.

I have to ask this because I think it would matter. Would Peyton Manning support Fulmer being re-hired? If the rumors were true that Manning was willing to pitch in to help fix our budget issues/coaching search then his money along with the 18 million Cheek has promised back to the AD, A Fulmer & staff hire would be easy to make happen. You would think Peyton would endorse Phil Fulmer. JMO

Yes 100%, Peyton was the one behind all the full page ads supporting Phil.

With his time to reflect, I am sure we would be getting 90's Phil back fired up to succeed. Give him a shot to break the General's records....Think about that. Phil was a great coach...with a renewed passion he could be again.

Manning/past players were responsible for the ads But I did't expect anyone to listen. They sure will claim him as the Sheriff, but would they listen if Manning did say bring Fulmer back now. Doubt it!!!
