Fulmer is still the best name.

No coach cares about this University more than Coach Fulmer. I didn't want to see him go when he did and would welcome him back with open arms.

Why the hell would Fulmer want to come back? We threw him away like trash and we treated a man who did so much for this program like ****. Why the hell would he want us when we threw him to the curb, its like your girlfriend leaving you for someone else then all of a sudden they want you back. Karma is a ***** and we are getting it bad.... Please hire Petrino or Tressel, if y'all ever want to win again.

Good grief man,

I like Fulmer, always have, but he wasn't kicked to the curb by TN, he was relieved of his well paid duties at the end for a lack of performance. The people that kicked him to the curb were Bama, UF, UGA and etc...etc...etc.

Fulmer would do better than what Dooley did the past 3 years, but he's not any kind of long term answer at this point.

Do we need a long time answer. Crap, if someone is bleeding out don't you at least stop the bleeding. You can do the surgery once you get his bleeding stopped. Sheesh.

Let's hire somebody who loves this place and wants to be here.

Fulmer got his batteries recharged and has something to prove. Let him prove it.

These other losers are spurning our University as if it's a trash job or something. Then give it to a man who can get it back to prominence....then hire a coach when the RIGHT man comes along. Put Fulmer on a contract that states if certain coaches come available and want the job then he must step aside. Why wouldn't he sign that contract if he loves the University? Though I gotta say...I might get pissed if I was offered such a contract. Don't know if Phil would be though.

We need a coach who can build a program because we are at the bottom. Phil Fulmer has never built a program. That is one reason that no other program has hired him.

Hire Phil only after we stop, fill up the check book, and dump it on Patterson and Peterson. When I say dump it , I mean 5.5 / 6.0 million if needed. If they still wont take it, welcome back Phil.

CPF was one hire away from not getting fired. He brought back Cut and took us to the SEC Championship (albeit with a little luck).

If CPF can bring a solid staff, we could kick some butt. Bring back Chief, keep Chaney, go after Tee and keep Graham, then get after it.

We would have a top 10 OC (I think Chaney finished in the top ten) and top 10 DC, plus bring back some VFLs...could be the best case scenario. You know they're loyal, you know they have been to the National Championship...and won with Tennessee. No other coach can say that. They know the territory better than anyone.

Who is the last coach we had that beat Florida?

Been a while. Because Dooley sucked and Kiffin left before building anything means Fulmer's record against Florida isn't an issue? Maybe you should ask why this program was in a hole when Phil left.

We're going to do worse than CPF. Nothing wrong with Phil. People just want some young unproven Hollywood Wow Coach with excessive hair dye.

CPF has a NC win.

Because he actually cared/cares about his school.

he got fired because the game passed him by and he played not to lose. and also because florida owned us during his time here and that is still sticking with us. why would we bring that back.

Since he left, we have lost even more...

Still you shouldn't fire a coach that won a NC in the middle of the year. Just 8 games after SECCG the year before.

I never thought I would ever say this but I might be okay with bringing Phil back to stabilize the program.

Give him a year to year contract with no buy out. Make sure he knows his job is to stabilize the program and then retire in a few years. Go out and hire a great OC and DC. Re-establish recruiting after the mess Fooley left behind. Get the program back to a stable point and then in 3 years or so you can re-assess. If Phil is knocking it out of the park you can give him a real contract and go from there. If he has just brought back some stability, you can promote one of your coordinators to the HC job if they show promise or hire a good coach from a position of stability.

In the interim, you need to replace both the AD and chancellor of the university with people that at least understand the true mission of UTK. The true mission of the school is not to be a top 25 research university - it is to educate the citizens of the state. This helps provide the citizens of the state with job opportunities and benefits the state by attracting business to the state. The athletic department is a reflection of our university. When it does well, it attracts money that helps to fuel the academic mission of the university. When athletics does well, it is also attracts interest in the university by high school students. People want to be associated with a winner.

Academics and athletics are NOT mutually exclusive. I would argue that at a school like UTK, academics and athletics are mutually inclusive - it is difficult to have one without the other.

Looking around last night and this morning at a ton of Vols message boards, some might be surprised at how much momentum is being gained by #Bringbackfulmer.

Please change the title to "I want phil back" because any UT fan that cares about the program's future should not want him to return as coach.

I am on the tressel train, but I would not be opposed to jumpin on the Fulmer one.. I thought it was a mistake to fire him to begin with.

I talked to Bobby Scott last night. He is very unhappy with the state of our program and how things are being handled. I had never really given much thought to the Fulmer talk until he brought it up in our conversation. He has not/was not ever a big Fulmer pusher, so, him saying that got my attention. He said Fulmer would take the job, he loves the university, he would recruit well, and he has fire in him after the last 4 years. Bobby said we should give him a 3-4 year deal and money to get a quality staff and let him right the program and go out a hero.
Not sure I argue with him at this point.

I think this makes a lot of sense. Why wait any longer? Make the call Hart!

Phil loves this University and will do everything possible to get us back to where we need to be. Any of our other choices out there would only be taking the job for the money.
