'17 GA ATH DeAngelo Gibbs

You really can't do that for every single recruit we don't get.

Sure, in the scheme of life it's not a big deal, but for the 2017 recruiting class, I'm convinced that it is.

1. I can do what I please.

2. If it is a dire position of need it very well can be a big deal. For the 17 class, RB, LB, DL those are dire needs and losing say a Chandler would amount to a big deal to me. DB or WR, not so much.

3. As always, IMO, NAACP, ACME, OU812

Exactly. This will be a big loss if he chooses another school, especially Georgia.

According to everybody now, we never had him. How did we "lose" him? Since he's a Georgia product, using our new conventional wisdom, isn't he a Georgia LOSS if he doesn't choose them? :)

Kirby better keep that fence up! Especially with how he is losing out on those '19 recruits already! Pappoe is a UT lean! Cmon Kirby!

I thought he was a lock. Reading the first part of this thread, it seemed to be. I've not seen a post saying we never had him

Only you and your buddy CrunchingVols thinks this is a huge loss. You don't like to listen to facts when we say our secondary is stacked with young talent. He could push for playing time here but it's not like we desperately need him. So you just think not landing Gibbs will hurt our program? Lol gotcha.

Man I hope we can survive the calamity! Will our defensive backfield recover? How long do you think it will take? 5 years? 10?

Sure, who needs the #3 player out of Georgia, and the #5 CB in the country? I'm sure he wouldn't make a very good secondary that much better.

Impossible! We've been educated on this. If a kid's from your state and he goes somewhere else? He's a loss. Thusly Tennessee couldn't LOSE him. Sorry, don't make the rules TIFWIW,ISIS,NAPAKNOWHOW, USSR. :hi:

Would've made a good linebacker for us...that's where he was headed.

I'd say a lot more than 2 people thinks this is a huge loss. He would make the secondary a little better. I never said the secondary would suck without him

Funny you say that cause if Gibbs was a 3* and went to UGA, you'd be one of these posters saying it's no big deal cause Butch doesn't need to recruit anymore 3*s.

Had we got him it would have been, HUGE GET! BUTCH STONES! YEAH, WE CANT RECRUIT! He choses UGA, no loss. We don't need him. Bigger fish to fry.

Now Butchna, we've talked about this. You simply can't use that logic stuff here.. It just won't do....

I go by offer lists more than stars. I'm happy with the majority of our 3 stars

I believe it was very early to take a lot of them. As its playing out it's making more sense. I'd guess the staff saw their big board was going sideways and a lot of the big targets were headed elsewhere. They started grabbing the back up options and trying to salvage a decent class. Obviously if you take those back up options in June and July it's easier to make it look like it's the ones you wanted all along.

Is it a loss? Figured he had committed elsewhere, but his recruiting pages doesn't show it. You all getting worked up over visits and expert opinion again?

This season needs to start.

Man you sure you guys aren't getting milked? I mean, you're really swimming against the current on this one. I hope you're right just because I don't want kirb getting anymore brags, not because I think we have to have DG so bad.

Getting milked is simply part of the process my friend. It happens to almost all the large SEC programs. As long as there are families involved in these decisions then it is simply going to happen. You have to play the game if you want to be in the hunt these days. Meanwhile others are stepping their game up hence others have to follow. So we push on and we will continue to make positive headway on the recruiting front.
