TBH, Kirby is destroying our staff right now in recruiting. This class as it is absolutely sucks. It's rated fairly high right now because of the sheer number of commits compared to every one else. In past years it would average out in the 20-25 range when all is said and done. People will probably think I'm crazy, but they may need to figure out a way to get someone on the staff after this season who can go into Georgia and do some serious damage like a Rodney Garner type.
5 wins, then 7 wins, then 9 wins. I'm not selling hope. I'm selling proven, clear improvement. Back to back bowl blowouts. My squad is right there. Literally a point away in these games. It's not hope. Its apparent and imo very sellable. The recruiting issue IMO is internal and the way it's being executed.
I don't understand how so many people believe that if we win 10+ games, all of these elite guys that seem to be going elsewhere ATP, will suddenly be knocking down butch's door to commit.
Sure it'll help with some, but it won't just magically give us a top 5 class (like everyone said 17 would be after a mediocre class last year)
whats Kirby gonna sell when they lose the first game against UNC in the Ga Dome? Thats gonna be a bad look and sets them up for a rough year.
From the FF forum:
But Larry is not a confidant of Jones. This is hearsay - rumor. I'd say a lot of coaches would consider coaching in the NFL as "making it." Less work and often more money. Doesn't mean it will happen or that Jones would want to.
I still think these elite players are waiting to see if vols get over the hump because if we cant do it this year its going tell recruits alot.....if we cant do it this year then when. Alot of guys are taking this approach. They may be committed elsewhere holding there spot and will circle back around if we win big if not they will probably stay where they are i gues 6 to 7 if not 10 will be cycled out or will leave on there own but we have to win big
They're is no way Butch Jones becomes a head coach in the NFL next year. People were saying the same nonsense things about Sumlin a couple years ago. Think of the coaches who have gone from college to pro, they all had multiple titles and were consensus top 5 college coaches. Butch is many, many SEC and national titles away from that. All he's done is recruit well, which isn't even a part of NFL coaching.

You kind of neutralized your own point there. The elite guys AREN'T waiting around, they are committing elsewhere. Elite guys typically don't need to commit somewhere to hold a spot. I don't think that's it at all.
My question to that is...why aren't they waiting for UGA to "get over the hump" as wel? They've continued to fail at meeting expectations for a decade plus.
We will need to tell ~15 current commits to leave in able to get to the top 5
Never happen, you can't kick 15 players to the curb. Backlash would be too much and would hurt recruiting for years. Talk about handing a silver platter to your opponents. 2-3 is the norm for most schools including Tn, heck, even if you double that, you are looking at 4-5 MAX.
Those who think that everyone will jump on board if Tn has a great season (and they should), the impact will be felt mostly next year, not this cycle (it could affect 2-3, again 4 Max).
Also, the premise is Tn doing well and no one else doing well. The schools Tn recruits against could do as well. Unless they pull an Auburn, not many will jump ship elsewhere. Heck, even AU could bounce back and have a good year. 5-7 new names perhaps, I'll go high and say 5-6 names drop off the list, those expecting an entirely new class aren't thinking it through.
Top 15ish is possible. I've been saying it for awhile. Its going to take a significant boost in stars just to get top 15 come NSD. We could add Smith, Akers, Chandler, Moore, and Foster and still top 15 is not a sure thing. We would be losing Coleman, one LB commit, plus one more commitment.

Top 15 isn't out of the question, even possible top 10 but some seem to think Tn is going to dump the class as it is now and have an entirely new set of guys committed. Highly ranked guys that should pick Tn are still on the board. All the ones you list should pick Tn except for Akers. If the NCAA does nothing, hard to feel good on Akers till the day he signed. Even under the microscope, I don't trust OM.
