Has everything to do with your perception of a PWO offer being considered insulting. Auburn did the kid dirty by offering him a scholarship to get his friend. Pappoe commits, then Auburn cuts ties with Clark. Pappoe's insulted and upset because he realizes they led his friend on. What I'm proposing is completely different. Offering the kid a PWO spot is not leading him on. It's being upfront with him. It's saying "hey, we can't offer you an upfront scholarship, but we can offer you a chance to earn one. Not a guarantee, but a chance." It gives him the chance to play with a friend(Wanya) if he chooses to take it. And he's certainly talented enough to warrant a PWO offer. So even if Pappoe doesn't flip, we lose nothing. IMO, it's a chance worth taking.

Auburn used him to get his friend. Whether or not Pappoe flips, Clark is certainly talented enough to warrant a PWO offer. You don't make the offer with a contingency that Pappoe has to flip. You just hope dominoes fall into place and he does. I just don't see a negative in making the offer.

And UT is superior to Auburn.

From an AU perspective, Clark’s offer was more an incentive to attract Morris. With Morris locked into UT, Auburn had other offensive centers much higher on its board and agreed with Clark to move on. Auburn definitely had discussions with Pappoe about the move and his committment to AU was not swayed by the change. Pappoe will take OVs to other schools and, as we know, in recruiting 17-18 year olds anything can happen.

It appears the only P5 landing spot for Clark is Boston College. Otherwise, he could be looking at a Troy, Jacksonville State type of school.

I'm pretty sure Clark doesn't view the Auburn 'offer' as an offer any longer..

Not saying we should offer Clark anything, but considering what Auburn is offering him now, a PWO @ UT is a better option...

This Clark kid has offers in the ACC, Big10 and Big12. There is no way he would, or should take a PWO. Why risk insulting all the Grayson players by offering a PWO. Pruitt is known for being straight up with these kids. Why risk that reputation on this?

I'm still trying to find the insult here. Just because these kids go to Greyson doesn't entitled them to a full ride scholarship to every school bin America. If a coach doesn't want to give them a full ride scholarship and offers a PWO then that's the coaches choice. Congratulations to Clark for having offers from other P5 conferences, but that doesn't mean the coaches in the SEC think he deserves a scholarship to their school.

I'm not saying he should take the PWO. He shouldn't btw. I'm saying he shouldn't be insulted that a coach at a P5 school doesn't want to offer him a full ride. What Auburn did bus something I don't approve of. Hated it when Tennessee did it. But that still doesn't mean the kid should be insulted when his teammates are getting offers and he isn't.

I could maybe understand offering him a scholarship closer to signing day, IF! we've lost an OL commit...maybe, idk. No way, do I offer a PWO. I think we're good with Pappoe regardless. Just have to be competitive on the field, and he's a Vol, I believe.
