Go back and re-read. Has nothing to do with MY perception.
I say we stay away from Clark. We've been up front about not wanting him this whole time, dont need to change now. If Pappoe wants to be a Vol, he'll be a Vol, regardless of Clark.Auburn’s treatment of Clark apparently rubbed Pappoe the wrong way.
You wanna offer Clark a PWO knowing he can probably get a P5 scholarship elsewhere?
Has everything to do with your perception of a PWO offer being considered insulting. Auburn did the kid dirty by offering him a scholarship to get his friend. Pappoe commits, then Auburn cuts ties with Clark. Pappoe's insulted and upset because he realizes they led his friend on. What I'm proposing is completely different. Offering the kid a PWO spot is not leading him on. It's being upfront with him. It's saying "hey, we can't offer you an upfront scholarship, but we can offer you a chance to earn one. Not a guarantee, but a chance." It gives him the chance to play with a friend(Wanya) if he chooses to take it. And he's certainly talented enough to warrant a PWO offer. So even if Pappoe doesn't flip, we lose nothing. IMO, it's a chance worth taking.
AU offered him a scholarship. TN offering him a PWO could be insulting. It could imply that somehow UT is superior to AU. Just saying Clark could view it that way. I just find it a little hard time believing that a Grayson player is not going to think a PWO offer at UT is not insulting.

I'm still trying to find the insult here. Just because these kids go to Greyson doesn't entitled them to a full ride scholarship to every school bin America. If a coach doesn't want to give them a full ride scholarship and offers a PWO then that's the coaches choice. Congratulations to Clark for having offers from other P5 conferences, but that doesn't mean the coaches in the SEC think he deserves a scholarship to their school. This Clark kid has offers in the ACC, Big10 and Big12. There is no way he would, or should take a PWO. Why risk insulting all the Grayson players by offering a PWO. Pruitt is known for being straight up with these kids. Why risk that reputation on this?
Just because you or I wouldn't be insulted doesn't mean those kids won't. Just saying why risk it. Reportedly Pappoe is upset with Auburn for how they handled it. We already have Wanya and are still very much in it for Pappoe without offering Clark. They both seem to appreciate that Pruitt was honest and straight up about everything. There is no need to do it. Also, me personally, I would never advise a kid who has scholarship offers in D1, much less P5 schools to take a PWO anywhere. That would be bad advice in most cases IMO. A PWO offer at Tennessee, where there would probably be very little opportunity to play, is not better for the kid than a full ride at another school where he could actually play and maybe play enough to get in the league.I'm still trying to find the insult here. I'm not saying he should take the PWO. He shouldn't btw. I'm saying he shouldn't be insulted that a coach at a P5 school doesn't want to offer him a full ride. What Auburn did bus something I don't approve of. Hated it when Tennessee did it. But that still doesn't mean the kid should be insulted when his teammates are getting offers and he isn't.Just because you or I wouldn't be insulted doesn't mean those kids won't. ThisThe only reason the door is open with Pappoe is because of how he perceives Auburn treated Clark.
Don’t insult Clark further with a PWO offer. Just go after Pappoe straight up.
It's an insult. It's not an insult, it's an option. Clark can take the free ride to any school that offers, or he can take a chance and try to earn a scholarship to an SEC school. Maybe he doesn't have your ego.
It's like I said, I like where their head is at, wanting Pappoe...but, it makes absolutely no sense to offer that, none. This Clark kid has offers in the ACC, Big10 and Big12. I could maybe understand offering him a scholarship closer to signing day, IF! we've lost an OL commit...maybe, idk. No way, do I offer a PWO. I think we're good with Pappoe regardless. Just have to be competitive on the field, and he's a Vol, I believe.I doubt it but maybe they offer Clark a blueshirt. Hubbs has said that they're bringing in 25, with a couple blue shirts.
