'19 GA ATH Owen Pappoe (Auburn signee)

Take Pappoe out of the equation, it's not insulting, we offer PWO all the time. Having not offered before, neither scholarship or PWO...and now we do, right when the door has opened on someone else, it could very much be insulting, especially when the kid has offers from other P5 schools, including a school that just smoked us.
What's offensive to one may not be offensive to another is my point. It's presumptuous to assume one way or another. How it affects Pappoe is another subject all together.

But you didn’t add any of that extra when you blurted “Offering him a PWO is absolutely an insult!” So I could only react to that. The way the general populace has degraded a scholarship as peanuts in college football...I’d say it’s pretty near.
I never said that. You have confused me with another poster.

not sure why this has gotten so much run. i don't see us offering him a scholly. i don't see him accepting a PWO if he can get the full ride at another p5 school. i think we've been pretty honest/up front about that thru this process. i think Pappoe may have to come to terms with the fact that he may not be able to play with his friend, and once free of that, he can decide to stay at Auburn or look elswhere.

So NOT offering any opportunity is it’s own compliment? Gotta buy that book. If Pruitt doesn’t see enough in him, all this is a moot point. I trust the guy to offer or not based on the player’s merits.
I agree. I think he receives neither from Pruitt.

Guess I created quite the stir, lol.

I wouldn't offer Clark just to get Pappoe, but the fact it might sway Pappoe is definitely an added benefit. Look at the state of our OL. It's most likely our biggest weakness atm. But given our needs, we can't afford to give Clark a scholarship. And ftr, I think offering a scholly just to try and get his friend is far more insulting than offering a kid to legitimately earn his way on his own merits.

Playing for UT may not be his dream, but it's possible that continuing to play with friends is. We have Wanya committed, and yes, we're trying to flip Pappoe. I just don't see offering the kid a PWO spot as insulting. You don't attach strings to it. No conditions that it's contingent on Pappoe flipping. Just an opportunity. That's it. From there, he chooses what he wants to do, but he knows that option is there should he choose to take it. Honestly, I think insult would depend on how you word it. I personally think the kid is worth a PWO offer regardless of whether it helps us with anyone, and if the staff let's him know that, that this isn't just a ploy to get his friends, I don't see it as an insult. It's an offer based on his merit. And any OL can look at our situation and see opportunity. This kid could very well earn a scholarship here.

Strictly referring to my posts in this discussion. If you found a way to get personally insulted on a topic of a player being insulted by a PWO offer...I guess there’s some creative talent to be credited.

Butchna I've been here long enough to know the lay of the land and how 'the usual suspects' operate. I was just shootin' the sh!t and there was no offense taken or inferred.

It's the same as going for a job interview and them offering you a ridiculously low amount in relation to the market. Most on here would take that as an insult.
“Market”...geez! Ok I’ll play. “We don’t have an engineer’s position open here at Google, but we can offer you an entry level position in two weeks if you want to give notice at the Best Buy Geek Squad.”

Good! It’s been a brutal two week stretch as far as me and former friends on here.

Maybe Watson is the mystery CB and it will help us with Pappoe 🤔

Usually if there's some hint that a flip is possible, their social media goes quiet. Kenyatta and his parents' Twitters are overwhelmingly pro-Texas. I'd be really surprised if it was him. I'm thinking Washington.

you think? i never thought he was that far up the board for us. and he seems solid to OU. i guess it's not out of hte realm of possiblities, but i'd be a little surprised if was him.

total speculation, of course. it's probably easy to find reasons why anyone would not be the guy, but I think it's probably someone pruitt has established report with, a guy in a position where a flip would be a comfortable decision but would feel pressure if it came out early (from tn, maybe), and is the type of back pruitt likes--tough and physical. washington checks all those boxes, but there are tons of reasons why he's not the guy, too. so, who knows. just spitballing.

He was committed to Auburn before. Now he's not. The situation has changed.

Is this a new VNism being born? Established report? I'm assuming you mean established rapport?
