I will not argue one bit that they were RBs, but they quoted the man saying they were all safeties. I don't know what else to say.

No doubt some safeties were converted to LB. I'm saying CPF converted more RBs to LB that's all. I remember a few years back, I think it was Missouri, a guy came in as a Freshman safety and kept growing, moving forward to LB and ended up on the DL as a 300 lb. senior.

I believe Marlon Walls did the same thing. He went from LB to DE to DT.

You're right. It just stepped on a volnation long time assertion though so... I tend to lend more attention to Raynoch Thompson's opinion myself but hey. Whatever works.

Al Wilson was the starter at RB and Safety for his HS team... everyone is correct.

Oh I know. I just felt like Raynoch Thompson was being called wrong or stupid for saying safety. They did all mostly play safety on defense in high school opposed to being lifelong LBs. The man knows what he's talking about. Plus Warmachine is usually a decent, correct human being so I'm going to say something in defense there if I think it's right.

Al Wilson was recruited to be a safety at UT. Yes, he was an all-state RB at Jackson Central, but UT wanted him as a safety. During his freshman year after getting toasted over and over because he couldn't cover WRs, Chavis told him to go practice with the LBs and the rest is history. If u google it, there is a great article about it. Sorry, I do not know how to "link" it.

Only what i was told by Thig. What he spoke of about the kid was speed, wreckless, and with crazy athleticism. Also stated he reminds him of a few guys they took when he was at Auburn. Him and Chattman team mate Anderson are who they're selling out to get.

Thanks for the info, de1

I think our staff sees him as a DE.

I know they do and I don't understand it. Plus, he wants to play LB and it's hurting us. Auburn wants him at LB and that's why they are his leader, right now. We don't have a LB in this class and the ones UT are on, are not anywhere as good as this kid, imo. I really think this kid could be a game changer at OLB and UT could use him as a hybrid on passing downs. But, hell, Butch knows what is doing. UT has been killing it, in recruiting this year. I just really want this kid at LB and it's probably clouding my judgement

Just sign him up...he'll find his place on the field.

I agree, but it seems the staff isn't telling him what he wants to hear. I think they are being honest with him, they see his future as a DE.

But he has his heart set at OLB. I say you can give him his shot at it until he eats and trains his way out of it and still be honest with the kid. Promise him his chance and when he hits 250 put his hand in the dirt.

The kid is a pass rushing DE. The staff is being honest with him. Landing him makes our dline haul more outstanding but does nothing for our OLB needs. Being dishonest with him is just shady. We can't bang on other staffs for recruiting like this and then expect our staff to do the same just to land a kid.
