'18 GA LB JJ Peterson (Tennessee signee)

Or if they wait until after NSD to hire him

Would still be enforced. I think we would need a waiver to hire him off field anyway because of signing shamburger last year. At least I think that is the case but nobody seems to know.

Oh ok. I figured that would be a loophole but dang. Stupid rule.

Also, in hindsight. I'm very glad we didnt get Leach. While his X/Os may be superior to a lot of coaches, I don't think we'd have the natural recruiting connections this staff has brought. I'm getting pumped and it's January.

Many of us wanted Leach for the entertainment value, especially when Currie and Haslam were calling the shots. Better programs and D's tend to stifle Leach's Air Raid. Add in the recruiting issue you raise. I am a full fledged sunshine pumper for CJP and staff.

I'm on board as well. Liked the hire from the onset, but this really may have been the best case scenario.

I honestly think that aside from national perception in the short term this coaching search could not have gone any better. Got rid of Curry and stripped Haslem of his power over the program. Fulmer took charge and hired a candidate that probably should have been the number one target in the first place. The bad optics of the search will not matter at all once we start winning. :loco:

In the 24 hour new cycle, cfb fans forgot about the Currie debacle at least 3 weeks ago. But you're dead on.

We're not going to hire him. It would've been done by now.

I have no information, but I don't see it that way. I think they are holding out to see what McClendon does. If they hire him as a coach, then it's no problem. Don't know if it's true, but someone said that you can hire Propst as an analyst after NSD without any issues (except for future recruits).

I guess what I mean is that they're not going to do anything that jeopardizes their ability to sign JJ Peterson. Either they've found a loophole or they're not going to hire Probst.

Only thing I can figure is they will hire Probst as WR coach if they don't get McClendon. Then it wouldn't matter who we sign. But that is a pure guess.

Oh, I agree with that. I wouldn't think they would jeopardize two more years at Probst's school either, but I am not sure how big of a deal that really is.

Tennessee has received the last seven Crystal Ball picks for Georgia four-star JJ Peterson. He's the nation's #2 OLB and a top 50 overall prospect

Not sure what anyone knows here. Kinda seems like a bunch of folks just guessing.

Yeah that part is known. That's why I'm guessing Propst is the backup plan for McClendon at wide receiver coach because it's not clear that there are any other on field positions for him. The question is whether he can be hired at an off field position.

From the tweet: "The new NCAA rule against hiring a prospect's high school coach, only applies to off the field coaches"
