'25 GA S Lagonza Hayward (Florida)

Billy may keep his job, but I’m surprised if Lagway isn’t shopping around. He could earn a king’s ransom for the hype he has built himself by playing hard against Georgia before going down to self injury, early in the game.

If I was Shane Beamer, I’d be telling Lagway the only thing Beamer Ball 2.0 is missing is Vick 2.0.
Why would Beamer call Lagway when Sellers is balling out for them????

The topic wasn’t about brands or Lanning’s recruiting ability. It was about the relative advantage of recruiting geography between the 2 schools.

Yes, there is more competition in the South, because there is better talent here. Look at how hard USC came into the south to recruit this cycle. They could have just stayed in California. But frankly, California talent is overrated. They were trying to get elite talent. Tennessee is situated closer to better talent than Oregon is. That’s the point.
Then you didn’t follow the original discussion. The response I made was to why Oregon was two spots above UT in the rankings this year.

That wasn’t the point at all- it was just a byproduct of the discussion.

It actually was the point. Because it was MY point. Look at my first response, what I was responding by to, and what I said.

The original question was “what about Dan Lanning?” I responded with “money and playing time. Auburn has both.” Yes, I also added geography with the inference that Oregon had money and a brand. I assume some know Lanning is a great recruiter as well. That wasn’t the initial discussion- not particularly about geography.

What pisses me off the most about the timing of this are the players that might have considered Knoxville but looked elsewhere when he committed. Also worry about the concern it MIGHT cause in other commits that might back out as well.

Right. And I only addressed the geography point. Didn’t disagree with anything else.

Don’t like the negativity. Wish he hadn’t publicly decommitted. Sounds like it shocked people and that makes me feel like he didn’t talk it through with our side. Hope it’s not too late to resecure his commitment and both sides do what it takes to keep him in this class. Was our biggest commit not named Davis.

This quote makes it sound like it's at least a little bit on us. I doubt Spyre did anything on the money side. Either a coach he is close with is leaving or he's pissed about us recruiting Merritt or looking at the portal after we maybe told him he was our only safety.

But tbh not sure why you wouldn't want another guy in your class growing with you in the position where you can push each other.

Maybe decommitting is a move to pressure us into not taking Merritt?? At the end of the day though I want the guys who aren't afraid to compete.

This has to be agent driven. He must be getting a big bag to decommit out of the blue.
Dont always assume. He may genuinely feel lied too. The second safety may be issue, either way ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ there is no loyalty anymore. If people fall prey to the red caped guy on other shoulder, cant help them. That's what "tough love" is for.

I will say… he’s always seemed more shaky to me than he let on. Flirting with UGA after he committed, taking visits when it seemed like he was ours. Still, thought we had weathered all that. Caught me off guard. And the way UF has flipped all these guys all of a sudden makes me think they are throwing money around now that it’s known Billy is coming back. Can’t blame them, I would be doing the same thing to capitalize on the momentum.

Was there any crack in the door left open that he might change his mind again and still end up a Vol?
I know this can happen in the NIL era.

Could the staff be happy trading him for Merritt if we pull that off? Could improve our position with him due to increased need. Wish him well and move on. Use the portal if so indicated.
