Hopeful, but w nagging fear. Every year Holly thought she could press teams into the ground. After losing to a 1-5 team, they ended up only playing awful half court man cause they couldnt guard the littles who drove right by without any help defense.

I sure hope that this team is actually capable of playing the defense that is being preached.

Cooper, Spear, Spencer, Puckett, Whitehead. In a real game it might be Latham over Puckett, not sure. Latham is sneaky good in many areas down low. Puckett is probably a starter all year though. That would be the best balance of speed, athleticism and skills. Spearman and Hollingshead will no doubt get some starts when size is an issue, One of them may carve out a starter role.

Spear is the rightful heir to the team alpha tag, but Cooper is anxious to show what she can do, and Whitehead is used to always being the alpha type. I don’t know which ones start, but all three will be fixtures in the lineup. Those are the three alpha types.

Just for clarity, Rooster1 - Whitehead, Whitehorn; "Copper," Cooper; it's all good.

Also, I don't think you intended the Latham-Puckett comparison as a slight to Sara. Not at all. But, Sara does have about eight-dozen "real" games on her resume, and probably about five-dozen starts. She's pretty good. Having said all that, along with Dark Phoenix, KnoxLikeUs, and perhaps others, I think that Alyssa Latham is an incredible talent, and a probable All-American in the making. So, with you all the way about Miss Latham.

Oh, and I vaguely recall your saying that you schooled at "West Point?" Thank you, sir! Thank you very much!

Thx, I should have caught the spelling of names. Latham is coming in under the radar, imo. She played/started as a true freshman on a good Syracuse squad (tied for 2nd in the ACC) with two alphas already in the starting lineup. She will be great in a fast game plan, super athletic. Just needs to keep improving her offense and I think she will in the new system. She is athletic.

Thanks for the shout out to my Alama Mater and the kind words.

Alyssa Latham steps on the court as a sophomore and will be one of best two way forwards in the SEC. She had some dominant performances last season as a true freshman and was the best player on the court in big games against Notre Dame and Alabama.

Talaysia Cooper is really good and will be an outstanding player. I believe the staff will gradually transition her to becoming a starter by bringing Coop off the bench in her return to the court. I look forward to seeing Kaniya Boyd and Talaysia Cooper on the court together.

Starters: Spencer, Spear, Whitehorn, Puckett, Latham
Reserves: Spearman, Cooper, Boyd, Hollingshead, Wells, Darby, Ayodele

I could see that, Cooper is going to surprise most, she is the most athletic on the team, everyone will see.

Last season, she was the most athletic by far and Rickea Jackson was the most skilled and naturally talented basketball player. It was a shame they didn’t get to play together.
On this roster, Boyd, Spearman, Whitehorn, or Cooper could be considered the most athletic player. Each player is different, has a different style which makes them a unique group with the rest of the roster.
I would say Latham, Spencer, and Hollingshead are the most balanced players.. good athleticism and basketball skills.
The roster compliments Spear, Puckett, Wells, and Darby very well.
Each of these players are experienced and have been a part of successful teams but never played on a team this deep.

Caldwell will give up points to other teams just because of how many extra possessions the other team will have due to Caldwell's fast play style. Points per game allowed is not really an accurate statistic anyway because it's often based on play style. Points allowed per possession would be more accurate. I bet the score will be around 119-62. Could be more if Lady Vols can shoot or less if they can't. Marshall won by taking more shots than the other team, not by being accurate. Some of those gals could not shoot worth a lick.

I was the same last year when we played CN and let them score as many points as they did, I knew at that moment we weren’t going to be very good and literally referenced it several times throughout the season.

I actually think we’re going to come out with our guns blazing! I have a feeling this team is going to be very good! These women are about to shock us all this season! I’m actually excited!
