79 points on 85 shots 0.93 which is terrible offense and should be a loss except it wasn't. 77 points for them on 69 shots 1.16 which is quite good just didn't get enough shots and that was why we win this one.
For me this was the very best part. The LVs won playing a "normal" game on both ends the second half. Won a game that wasn't in the 90s. I always suspected the "system" would fall by the wayside when the chips were down and the game on the line. This team is plenty talented enough to play teams straight up and be successful. Don't have to always depend on chaos.Any questions about Lady Vols being able to run a half court set should be answered now. The whole 4th quarter was half court sets..
I thought the same. I'd take Coop's versatility over Latson's volume and numbers. Coop is growing on the offensive end by leaps and bounds, quickly becoming a RIckea level scorer, and that's the highest compliment. And man, her dang hands on D are just ridiculous. That young lady is breaking the eff out.Cooper was the best player on the court when it counted on both ends of the floor.
This team is one CONSISTENT 3 pt shooter away from being a serious threat. Got quite a few who can get streaky, no one reliable. It's a problem. If we could just shoot a little better. You seldom win shooting 40 percent, but 85 shots tonight to their 69. We certainly needed that differential as we shot in the 30's second half of game.
Agree about Ruby. She's forcing a bit, still feeling out her role. If she catches on that would be real gravy and take pressure off Coop.I see who Caldwell trusted when the game was on the line, and I loved the lineup!
I really hope Whitehorn finds her groove. I thought we’d have a 2 headed monster with her and Cooper. She’s going to be needed against the elite teams!
Agreed! I think Florida State could challenge for the ACC crown. If ND doesn't figure things out, they totally could, imo.
That was one of the features CKC said about her style of play--you can still win when you're shooting is off.
I still don't understand the why of all this. Why not just don't sin? This concept still seems like going to a sh*t ton of trouble when you could just play straight, take and make good shots? Like we did tonight almost the whole second half? I really liked how the LVs looked minus all the extra frenatic chaos and constant whistles. And that is Kim’s entire game plan. Gonna get more looks at the basket than you and you’re gonna like it. Covers a multitude of sins.
Yes we definitely will bc we're that kind of 3 pt shooting team. We'll scorch the nets one game soon, then quickly revert back to a very midish at best shooting team. Hopefully help is on the way for that in the next class.I think were going to have a game where we shoot it really well and that team will lose big to Tennessee. Iowa would be a great place for that to happen.
Here's hoping! At least we know we can win on poor shooting nights. That typically happens on the road and you have to pack your defense. It's been a home game trend for us so far.Basketball is a weird game sometimes. Being able to make open shots is something we haven't shown the ability to do consistently thus far. If we shoot the same percentage they did we win by 12 points. I think were going to have a game where we shoot it really well and that team will lose big to Tennessee. Iowa would be a great place for that to happen.
...and now we can blow out Iowa for that "recognition win" to gain some ranking. While it's one data point, I'm encouraged the team found a way to pull it out under the circumstances when the momentum was against them. Before we likely wouldn't have won a game like this where we blew an 20 point lead and were tied inside of a minute. IMO, they needed a win like this where the talent was equivalent and they needed to gut out the win. They will learn a lot from this and get a big confidence boost.
